    SOLD -Vintage Circe Predator Call

Circe produced a call that was made of black plastic and called the "trophy". Had two of them (not any more). The trophy model had a barrel that was an inch or two longer than the regular call. All things being equal, the call produced a lot of volume, it was marketed for bear & lion thus the name "trophy". The call in your photo appears to be regular length, likely a rare call color wise.

    Getting into Reloading

I don't understand the hows & whys of reduced charge pressure excursions but I am a believer. Pulled bullets and weighed the charges which were at the lowest listing on the loading manual. It was a long time ago. IIRC, it was a hot day when the mishap occurred. Talked to a number of experienced shooters who reload over the years and reduced load/pressure excursions are known issue.

    Getting into Reloading

^^^^ This A long time ago (mid 70's) I loaded low power loads for a .270 Win with Dupont 4350 and experienced a pressure excursion that required opening the bolt with a rubber hammer. The brass was embedded in the bolt face which broke the extractor upon removal. That was a Remington 700 action. Action vented gas upon firing, scary stuff.

    A Note From Scout

Have a tough time reading about letting go of an old dog. Does not matter whose it is. Takes me directly to the ache of putting and old friend down. Lily our lab made it to 14.5 years, gave us everything she had. She is a wonderful memory.

    Question about mule deer

Lots of variables apply to your question. Generally, close range should not be an issue but it would be appropriate to check your drop @ 40 yards and beyond when you get to altitude. An issue I've encountered at high altitude was related to marginal fletching. Tested arrows in the valley that flew great but did not have enough offset, size, etc. to stabilize at high altitude. Increasing the fletching cured the problem.

leica duovids @15x vs. geovids 15x56R

The data you list in your post is apparent FOV not actual FOV. A degree is approximately 55' @ 1000 yards. Swaro and Zeiss 15's are both 4.2 - 4.5 degrees of acutal FOV. Duovids, like variable scopes, sacrifice FOV at any given magnification as compared with fixed power optics. Most high end fixed power 10X binos will have a 6.3 to 6.6 degree FOV, notice the duovids @ 10X have a 5.3' FOV. With optics, there are always tradeoffs. Example: Leica Duovid 10x15x50 Leica 40420 Specs Magnification 10/15x Objective Lens Diameter 50 mm Angle of View 10x: 5.3° (Actual) 15x: 4° (Actual) Field of View 10x: 274' @ 1000 yd / 90.97 m @ 1000 m 15x: 208' @ 1000 yd / 69.06 m @ 1000 m Minimum Focus Distance 12.9' / 3.9 m Example: Zeiss The 15x56 Conquest HD Binoculars from ZEISS are designed to provide optimal performance in all light and weather conditions. ... ZEISS 525633-0000-000 Specs. Magnification 15x Objective Lens Diameter 56 mm Angle of View 69° (Apparent) Field of View 240' @ 1000 yd / 79.68 m @ 1000 m Minimum Focus Distance 11.5' / 3.51 m

I've got a friend who is the chartermaster for a 2.5 day trip on the Excalibur leaving the dock Friday August 28th returning Monday the 31st @ gray dawn. He's got approximately 4 spots to fill. If you have interest, PM me. I won't be on this trip because after 25 years trying, I finally drew 5B lope which opens 9/4. My focus is on lope this year.

Yes! Thank you, I only fish once or twice a year and forgot the the knots name. It's easy, small and strong. Probably should remove my "how to" post as it is not completely accurate. Anybody using the knot should use a online tutorial and not my description.

For mono/fluoro leader to braid, I've been using a knot that I can no longer find on youtube nor do I know it's name. It's easy to tie, fast and has to this point, not failed on me. I have pulled on it gloved up with dowels, it is one tough connection. It casts like a FG knot but on the retrieve the overhand knot can "tick" on the guides. A solution for the tick on the retrieve could be to leave the tag end of the leader long, do a few half hitches with the braid tag to contain it, then clip the mono/fluoro tag and the braid tag as the final step. The pupose of the overhand knot is merely to provide a stopper for the braid. It goes like this: 1)Tie a semi loose overhand knot in your leader material (leave a 2" tag and a 1/4" knot opening on your leader material) 2) Insert braid through the opening of the overhand knot. 3) Wrap braid 15 - 20 times down the leader material, pinch then overlap back 15 -20 times to the overhand knot, inserting the tag end of the braid back through the opening of the overhand knot in the leader material. 4) Tighten the overhand knot in the leader material but not "all the way" yet. 5) Lubricate, cinch the braid, main and tag. Glove up, dowels or what ever but this needs to be "made." 6) Finish pulling down the overhand knot in the leader material, trim. 7) Normally, I just clip the tag end of the braid but some use a finishing knot. This a photo of the knot - 50# braid to 30# Fluoro

Always good to get out on the water. Weed is not an issue in Jamaica, legal to posess up to 5 ounces according to what we were told. I did not partake however.

    Saltwater 2020

Was in Jamaica a couple weeks ago for a wedding (not my own). Snuck away for a day of fishing. Water looked really good but it turned out to be an expensive boat ride. Absolutely no life in that water, no birds, bait, dolphins or whales. Drug the spread past many large sargassum patches that you dream of finding with nothing home. Fished with rigged ballyhoo, feathers, kona heads. Crew worked hard changing baits but you cannot catch what is not there. Still a good day on the water.

  20. Don't get to see a 1st magnitude comet very often although this one has dimmed to 2nd or 3rd magnitude. Check it out, show it to your kids. No telling when another good one will show up. Great binocular object. https://earthsky.org/space/how-to-see-comet-c2020-f3-neowise

    Comet Neowise Visible after Sunset

My father was an avid amateur astronomer and always kept me informed about meteor showers or easily visible comets. I never caught the astronomy bug but always enjoyed observing comets. The astronomy community gets excited about newly discovered or returning comets hoping they will put on a show. Most fizzle, Neowise is an exception to the fizzle rule.

    Elk and cattle.

Generally speaking, I agree with the premise that elk will gradually move out when large groups of cattle are turned out into a rested grazing allotment. It pays dividends to speak with locals, ranchers, forest service, etc. to find out if and when cattle will be moved into (or out of) areas of interest.
