All of them have sheep and all RMBS hunt #'s had tags make it out of the bonus round last draw. Likely all the 6A/22 tags will go in the bonus round being that it's all one hunt # this year. Study the BP reports and roll the dice! Good luck in the draw.

I was hoping this thread would be about equipment, technique, etc. that long range archers use. I did expect to transition into other areas. Not many long range archers participated making this thread the old same, same.

Set yourself up to hunt as hard as you can for as long as you can. Hopefully most of you can be there the whole season. When it's over, win or lose, you gave all. That's what really matters. Hard work is usually rewarded.

Help.. Green funk on stainless parts
Swivelhead replied to ctracingraptor's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Probably ought to use your copper solvent on the areas to get the "green funk" back into solution. Then wipe it off, lightly oil, wipe some more. -
What a haul!

copper sulfate? what are you cleaning your bore with? -
Dang, never realized my opinion was so powerful. You guys do realize I have absolutely no control over any of you. Right? BTW, I do appreciate the personal attacks. Really, I do. Goat hunting is a special kind of hunt.

Anyone have last year's detailed sheep hunt report?
Swivelhead replied to bonecollector777's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
AZDBSS web page has previous years reports but not 2014 last time I checked. http://adbss.org/hunt_results.html -
Actually, I was hoping to get this thread headed in this direction. I will ask again: Anybody got ballistic software readily available? BTW, I think 1000 yards is too far with a rifle but believe 500-700 is very doable for a well prepared shooter (assuming the wind cooperates).

Been waiting to see if other CWT members would post about this years San Carlos spring hunts. I've hunted the tribal lands for the last 15 years. Always have a good time on SCAR and I will continue to hunt there. That being said, I had both spring hunts this year. Least birds I've ever seen on both hunts since I started years ago. There are still birds in our chosen areas but numbers are nowhere close to years past. I won't mention areas but I will say I'll be looking at other places on the reservation next year. Those of you who have hunted SCAR over the years have a similar experience?

Don congratulations on your birds. Out of 6 permits we got one bird. The only bird was a big one taken by my brother with a shotgun. Everybody else (except me) was archery hunting with traditional gear. I stuck with the compound as I need more practice with traditional gear. Other than tree gobbling it was relatively quiet on both the 1st and 2nd hunt. Regarding taking a bearded hen, I'd recommend doing that on a fall hunt. Likely, a hen will have a clutch "in progress" during any of the spring hunts.

Bonecollector did good on this one.

I don't see anybody championing "no practice" on any of these threads.

Can somebody calculate a ballistic chart out to 120 yards with a 100 yard zero? Use a 300 fps arrow weighing 450 grains, give it a ballistic coefficient of .250 (generous), 4.5" below line of sight. It would also be nice to know the time in flight. It'd be especially cool if the table could be uploaded to this thread.

Very nice. Congrats to your wife.

5 shot is my favorite for shotgunning turkeys. Again, congrats to you and your daughter.

Anybody use a sight with a magnifying lens? Does a peep clarifier help the long range game? It seems the single pin sight is not as popular as I thought.

If you need to setup and take down often, a ladder stand is not the best option IMO. I have a high quality climber but do not recommend them. A hang on is what you need. Get some climbing sticks too. Have not used tree stands for a long time. You could lock your hang on with a cable lock, remove a few sections of climbing sticks (or tree steps). Stash the sticks away from the stand site when gone (GPS them, trust me on this one). A determined thief will still get your stand but at least he'll have to work at it.

Ladder stands work just fine. Cons: Heavy for a pack in. Also can be hairy standing one up against a tree. Bring an extra ratchet strap to bind the stand to the tree. Make sure the feet of the ladder are on firm ground. Make sure and use the support from tree to ladder if provided. You can cut your own if necessary.

Shuttle T locks are not expandables correct? Also, how long does it take to range, then adjust sight?

That's funny stuff right there. BTW, I do advocate practice at longer distances. LR will definitely expose flaws and it also makes close shots "chip" shots.

THE COUES THAT HAD NO CHANCE!
Swivelhead replied to azhamill's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Whoa! Beautiful buck. Nice ram too! Not too sure if it was luck that the ram stopped on that little ledge. How far would he have fallen if not for the ledge? -
What is your overall arrow weight? Any idea on the speed? I'm not familiar with your sight, how do you dope long distance? What's up with your other guys? We'll bellyache & moan later, right now we are (hopefully) trying to learn something.

I've got an 03 F350 LBCC 6.0 PSD. Yeah, I had the oil cooler issue. Got it cured. $$$$. Other than that, it has been a very good truck. It's lifted 8" and is my daily driver. I've twisted this long azz truck through a lot of rough roads that it should not have been on. Got no issue with the truck, it's solid. Providing you can verify a 6.0 has had all the fixes, one can get a good deal as the 6.0 reputation was earned and resale reflects it.
