Those of you hoping to draw a sheep tag who are at less than max points need to study the annual bonus point reports. Specifically, the 20% bonus pass. Unlike the other species, the 20% bonus pass comes off the top. Meaning that in some cases all the permits for a given hunt # are taken in the bonus pass by max point holders. This issue has been discussed previously on this forum. Basically, depending on your age and distance from max points, you'll likely die with your BP's trying to draw 22, 24A, etc. Again, study the annual BP reports.

Getting on the bad side of a judge is NEVER good.

What a horrible experience. Condolences to all involved.

Tough units but there is an occasional toad.

Thx for posting. Growth rings are easily seen on that ram which is not always the case. The darkened ring apparently indicates stress from rutting activity, so I'm told.

Well done!

Mocking a 70+ year old man with a chronic disease says a lot about you guys.

I've pulled the trigger on a double 10 gauge. Brisk but tolerable as a double 10 usually has some mass to it. Very effective weapon.

Buddy of mine made & used one a very long time ago for archery hunting. Worked however it occasionally attracted the interest of a few range bulls which made the stalk somewhat unnerving.

Very nice. Good looking rifle too.

Drew unit 15 1st archery tag, totally unexpected. Looking forward to a great hunt. Congrats on your tags.

+1, I'd guess a 3-4 year old.

No experience with snow. What I've observed when it's raining is that they roost early and leave the roost slightly later than normal in the morning. Talked less too.

Women generally have shorter draw lengths and don't pull mega weight. Modern compound bows lessen the issue. Likely, you'd be best off with a cut on contact fixed head (really, most would). As others have said, make sure your BH choice tunes well to your equipment. I like large fletching for stabilizing broadhead tipped arrows. In the past I used 5" vanes with as much helical as the arrow diameter would allow. That being said, last year I used a helical AZ EZ fletcher set up for Blazer type vanes. I was pleasantly surprised how well the little Blazers stabilized a fixed broadhead. Try to set up your equipment with "forgiveness" in mind. A critical set-up is not what most of us need at the moment of truth.

Good job! Smile on your youngest's face says it all.

Swarodur, Swarobright on the newer versions. Think 2005 was the year the upgrade occurred. It's fairly easy to find out what a particular optic has for upgraded coatings. Get the serial# & contact swarovski. Ask the questions you need answered via email. Takes a couple working days but they will get back to you.

Congrats to you & your son. Turkey hunting is the bomb.

Leica AP0 spotters are "alpha glass".

Always amazes me how acidic the anti's are. These people got some hate. Having taken a giraffe, I can tell you many people are shocked and dismayed that anyone would do such a thing. Africans have no issue with it, neither do I. Congrats to the lady with her giraffe.

Very nice catch. Personally, for table fare, I like grouper more than any other fish. How deep were you fishing?

Hunting with an order of protection - Questions/Thoughts needed
Swivelhead replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
Definitely a unique situation. I have no clue what your dissolution situation is. That being said, if your ex husbands perception of the proceedings is the he got "smoked" and you got the palace, alimony, sole custody, child support, your attorney fee's etc. AND your new boyfriend ran his 27' SeaRay aground at the lake last weekend. BTW, is he living with his parents to keep up with payments? If so, I recommend you pack an AR on your upcoming hunt should you insist on using your OOP to keep the ex out his former haunts. That's a mans perspective. LOL! Being serious now. Naturegirl, you opened this "can of worms" thread. Unwise IMO. An OOP is easily acquired, literally free for the asking. A real "kick in the gut" for the banned person. Your order may have merit, only you know that for sure. The fact that you want to utilize your OOP to keep your ex out of areas you KNOW he wants to hunt is telling. It would seem you'd want to be far away from any person you felt the need to serve an OOP on. To me, it seems you just want to inflict more pain on your ex in any manner possible. You might want to consider contacting Amanda about getting this thread removed from the site. JMHO -
A few things elk have taught me over the years: Calling, yes I do call but sparingly. I have come to believe elk know each others voice and routine. Anything out of the ordinary raises suspicion. If elk are talking, I generally don't. Some hunters are exceptional callers and sound better than elk. Don't sweat getting "called in", happens to all of us eventually. Daytime elk like the thick stuff, shot opportunities tend to be fleeting. It is unusual to get a wide open shot in these conditions. When practicing, place your targets in thick cover and get used to shooting through relatively small openings. You'll learn to judge a legitimate opportunity vs. an unmakeable shot. Broadheads are less forgiving than field points when shooting through any kind of debris, with broadheads, you do need an opening. Practice extensively with broadheads. Never hunt a bad wind, it won't work. Chaps my hide to have a fellow hunter blow out bugling elk because he was too lazy to get the wind first. Pay attention to the wind at all times, note the time of day when thermal shifts occur each morning and evening. Often an unhuntable approach becomes viable if a front(or thunderstorm) disturbs the daily thermal action. Analyze failure, learn from it, then forget about it. Most of us fail often but remain relentless. In the end, win or lose, it's all about the effort.

Bill, good job on silencing her tirade.

I had 3b last year which I am so glad to have been exposed to as a first rut hunt. even though I didn't get one I learned enough to make this hunt even better. What did you hunt in Africa? Plains game & cape buffalo. Zimbabwe in 01 and 04, Save Conservancy and Lemco (which in now called Bubye). It was a blast but I'd still rather have a unit 1 or 27 EAB tag.
