    Better off dead

If they show agression towards me, they are dead. Especially the ones that strike without a rattle.

    spear fishing idea

I think the only thing you can spear are suckers and carp?

    Leica LRF 800 Rangefinder - $200

used to have the same one, but the 1200 model. lost it on a hunt. it was a red display.

    Colorblind and rangefinders?

that's gonna be a pretty tall order i think. most of the good rangefinders are red, because black is nearly impossible to see in low-light situations. have you looked through a high end rangefinder? the reticle in them is usually much clearer. cheap rangefinders are exactly that. when they advertise 800-1000 yards, they will usually only work for about 60-70% of advertised range, in a hunting situation. i think they get their range limit that they advertise by shooting them at a big mirror at the specified range. i have a pretty nice, new leupold 1000 and it will realistically only range 800 yards dependably in a hunting situation

    Tall Tripods

when you extend the tube it makes the setup a lot more wobbly.i have a hard time justifying $500 on a set of aluminum tripod legs. very over priced for what you get IMHO

Best way to review SD cards in field

the laptop is nice because you can download the pics and clear off the card. saves having to buy 2 cards for every camera to swap them out. most tablets don't have enough memory to download a multiple 8-16 gig memory cards in a day

    Tall Tripods

i think it might be this one. i don't think vortex "makes" them anymore.http://www.manfrotto.us/055xb-tripod-and-128rc-micro-fluid-head-with-200pl-14-plate. that's the same head mine came with as well, and it works very good. says it extends to 74", which seems about right

    Tall Tripods

i'm a little over 6'4" and have a vortex tripod tripod. i think it's made my manfrotto. the legs and head were about $300. it would probably work for a guy that's 6'7" or so. it's like packing a boulder in your pack, but extremely sturdy. i have beat the h#ll out of it for 6-8 years now with no issues. i USE my equipment, not babied

Where to start on a budget

The savage 111LRH rifles give you a lot of bang for your buck and i have never heard anything bad. they come with probably $1000 worth of extras that you would have to pay extra for on most stock rifles (karsten adjustable comb, muzzle break, good trigger, aluminum bedding block) i own one in 338 lapua and it's a shooter and i know a lot of guys that shoot them in other calibers. probably couldn't go wrong with it

    MUDBUGS!

    My COPD Ram

Tony liked to think that he was a celebrity, and none of the ordinary folks on here knew their @ss from a teakettle. I don't think he ever killed an animal that wasn't on a guided hunt, yet he liked to tell all of us average joes how he is the great white hunter and because he is an "outdoor writer" everyone needed to treat him differently and believe every bull$hit word that came out of his mouth. People got tired of it. That is the abridged version

    Scope base & ring question

i put a set of xtreme hardcore gear force recon rings on a similar rifle, just the 338 lapua version. i love them. they have a built in level also. they are pretty expensive, but rings and bases are not where you decide to go cheap
