19A - Drew the bull tag this time around.........November 30th opener
GreyGhost85 replied to THREEDFLYER's topic in Elk Hunting
That is a TOUGH hunt. It kicked my butt when i had the tag about 8 years ago. I saw one bull and killed him on the last day. It turned out to be a giant but that was more luck than anything. -
Congrats man. Looks like a blast

If the tannery is admitting fault i would make them replace it.

They don’t help BUT they are not the reason for the recent decline in age class. Wolves don’t discriminate. I have spent as much time in wolf country in anyone and have seen a bunch of them. My family owns a ranch at ground zero for wolf reintroduction and my uncle (cattle rancher) has arguably been hit harder by wolves than any individual in AZ. Mexican Gray Wolves eat far more cattle and roadkill (delivered by hippies) than wild game. The age class and population issue is also basically statewide. What percentage of the state holds wolves? 5-10%? I would LOVE to blame all of our issues on wolves but unfortunately, it would be incorrect.

As much as i HATE the wolf reintroduction here, they are not the reason for declining age class and population.....yet. Maybe in another 10 years though

That is a beauty. Love the dark coat, white face and dark horns. Congrats to you sir

People are putting in more effort, time and money to kill big animals now than ever before. Hunting used to be more about comaraderie and filling the freezer than it is now. Now everyone just wants a picture next to a big animal so they can get likes on instagram.

Put something in the photo that will give you (and us) a size reference. Looks like a house cat to me though. Not long enough for a lion

These are pretty cool packs. I’m good friends with the owner. Bump for supporting a local company and a good dude

***POST HUNT UPDATE First time hunter, and a Coues first timer

Good optics above good boots and pack -
There probably are not any guaranteed early archery bull tags with 3 points. That being said, there is a chance of drawing any tag, statewide in the random draw

I’ve grown up hunting unit 1 and 27. Have probably honestly been on 50 bull kills in those units over the years. I am in love with them and know them very well. That being said, i wouldn’t burn 22bp’s in either unit anymore. The G&F has decimated the age class since the wallow fire exposed the population. The genetics in those units are incredible and it’s really a shame what has happened. Unit 1 is trophy managed and 27 is supposed to be opportunity managed. The problem with that is a big percentage of unit 1 bulls winter in 27, where they get slaughtered in the late hunt

Gotta score at least a duggaboy and a couple awesomes

Nice job man. An archery coues of that caliber is quite an accomplishment

I harvested some bows today. They tend to grow on christmas trees

looks like a feline to me

Unfortunately, 23 points for a rifle antelope hunt doesn’t help you much more than having 0 bp’s i wouldn’t think. Between myself, brother and dad i think we have 70ish bp’s.

Looks like they cut 36 rifle, 25 archery and 13 muzzleloader tags from what was allotted last year

I want to hunt feral piggies, New Mexico?
GreyGhost85 replied to CatfishKev's topic in Other Big Game
For that price you could shoot one at blue rooster ranch or the dutton ranch. I think they cost about $500. Most likely a canned hunt though. I killed one on the san pedro near mammoth about 10 years ago. An outfitter offered hunts for about $200. Think it was called TnT adventures or something. I don’t think they are around anymore. They were wild hogs. No high fences. Most of the hunting we did was on private in farm fields but they were surrounded by mostly public land. I always told myself i was going to go back and shoot one on public and not pay the guide fee but never did. I would bet that there are still quite a few in the area. I think the rancher that owned most of the land was named Andy Smallhouse -
This has to be a troll. It’s just too easy

So, in what part of Apache Junction are you located?
