GreyGhost85 replied to Rebel76's topic in Classified Ads
Lol. Not a mule deer. Not a coues deer. 150-160" whitetail? -
Never understood we people that ride motorcycles are supposed to be tough or feared. Smh......post the deer or move on. It better score 250"

The buck i’ve been chasing for three years met his fate this year as well from a lucky hunter that just stumbled upon him. I’m still not over it. RIP buddy. Thanks for the many sleepless nights, sore muscles and headaches.

Jay Scott has a pretty good podcast about everything you need to know and do when hunting in Mexico. I would start there

Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

There is no need to keep a unit you plan on hunting lions in a secret. That being said, you could probably throw a dart at a map of arizona and there will be a lion somewhere in the area. Find a terrain that suits you and give it heck. Brush and boulder choked canyons with good deer populations would be my first place to look

Pretty sure it is frowned upon but those are sweet!

Favorite Bullet for Coues?
GreyGhost85 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I like a bullet that expands pretty rapidly for coues. Been shooting 130gn ELD-M’s out of my .264wm @ 3300 fps for a few years now. They seem to be a happy medium between not enough expansion and too much expansion. Before that i shot 130gn sciroccos. These were probably my favorite bullet i’ve ever shot but they are hard to find and expensive anymore. Can’t figure out why Swift doesn’t try to push more of them out the door. Good BC and a tough bullet -
Congrats again man. That’s a cool buck

My hunting partner had a tag. We knocked down a good one in an extremely tough unit. I’ll post a write up and photos later

Not to derail but how are these scopes? I almost bought one a few months ago and have heard really good things about them, other than being a little heavy free bump

Have you guys ever seen anything like this?
GreyGhost85 posted a topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
This is is the buck that my hunting partner killed with me this year. The taxidermist doing his euro mount discovered that the deer has upper canine teeth. I know that millions of years ago most ungulates did have tusks, and some species still do but i have never seen this in all of my life. Has anyone else seen this in a deer? -
Location?

Man.... thats like throwing a match in a gas can, expecting it not to light

Well, sh!t. I thought i had discovered a unicorn or something. -
The Carl’s Jr in Roswell NM had the most impressive collection of mule deer i’ve ever seen in my life. Went there one time, maybe 10 years ago. Wonder if it’s still like that?

2018 AZ Coues Deer rifle hunt - Teaser alert
GreyGhost85 replied to lamrith's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If this story doesn’t end in a 140” coues i will be severely disappointed. Captain Ahab battled Moby Dick in fewer words....just sayin -
I bought one from a guy on here as a donor a few months ago. He had 2 of them. One had a messed up safety or i would have bought it too. I can’t remember who it was but i would guess he still has it. It was a 30-06 and price was very fair. Might be able to go about 6 months back on the classifieds and find it. I remember i picked it from him around memorial day.

I bet it is tbe barrel cactus fruit. Seems like therr is usually a pretty good crop of it, even during a drought. When i used to hunt desert mulies, in the dry years we would hunt areas that had more barrel cacti and always did pretty well
