Iso 100 is my favorite as far as nutrition and taste. It's not cheap though

Spent 4 days in unit 27 this weekend. absolutely ZERO rutting behavior from the mule deer. i glassed probably 150-200 does in an area that had a lot of good bucks in it all year. only saw 1 semi mature muley this weekend and he was all alone and was not interested in anything other feeding. real head scratcher for sure. the coues on the other hand were rutting real hard. every doe had a buck or two dogging them. my hunting partner missed a 105" type buck yesterday morning. really discouraging. the last few years the rut hasn't seemed to get going in the area i hunt until the last week of january and continues through about mid february. i get photos of big bucks on trail cameras pushing does all through february. rained all weekend but never got cold enough to freeze

Reliable to 1000 yards .300 Win Mag Remington 700 with Huskemaw and extras
GreyGhost85 replied to Bjorn16's topic in Classified Ads
1,000 yards you say? I am a novice, will this rifle make me a proficient killer at 1,000+? -
You can buy a new range finder but once your short term memory is gone, it's gone forever. I blame it on the dozen or so concussions i've had. I'm only 31 and my short term memory is shot. Hate to think what it might be like in another 10-20 years

i had a 2016 ram exactly like you are describing for my work truck for a few months. really liked the truck and i was in the new diesel market. it swayed me into buying a new dodge 2500. lots of power and i was getting over 20mpg on the highway. never did take it off road though.

If you would have used a .270, the distance wouldn't have mattered! Funny thing is, I WAS using a .270.

I got them from Superior tire wholesale in phoenix. they are actually metric size so they aren't quite the same. they are like 34.5x11.8x18 i think. couldn't remember the exact size. that specific tire shop beats everyone's price. only place I'll buy tires anymore

Toyo AT's, Nitto AT's or BFG AT's should all last a long time on a tacoma. if you are running stock tire size, i would think you could pick up a set of any of them for around $800. i bought a set of 35x12.50x18 Nitto AT's a couple months ago for my cummins for $1050 new mounted and balanced. I will NEVER buy tires from the big box stores. their markup is ridiculous

i felt REALLY sorry for myself for years when i lost a leica 1200 in colorado on an antelope hunt. seems like i am definitely not the only one it has happened to. i ranged the buck, set the rangefinder down and shot him. i moved about 20 yards downhill before i remembered i left it behind. circled for hours looking for it and never found it and in the meantime the buck disappeared after laying there for probably 10-15 minutes. didn't want to take a follow up shot because i couldn't remember the yardage and didn't want to spook him. lost a big antelope and a rangefinder all at the same time. bad day.

Dunno about 21, but some of the other, easier to draw (than the strip) late muley hunts are really good. 23 and 27 especially. Still take around 14bp for bonus pass though. Maybe kaibab?

Anyone reloading for a .264 win mag?
GreyGhost85 posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have reloaded for them quite a bit in the past, but sold mine a few years back and just finally got another one. I know it's a round not many people shoot (not sure why) but was wondering what kind of powders people are shooting? The barrel on mine might not be twisted fast enough for 140+gn ( in 9), but i am going to to try 143 eldx and 130 eld. i have a lot of H1000 powder and was hoping to shoot it. My last .264, i shot H4831 with pretty good results. I figure H1000 will be good for a 140+ gn bullet but might be a little slow burning for a 130? any insight is appreciated. -
a member lost one in 41w. there is a post on here about it?

Anyone reloading for a .264 win mag?
GreyGhost85 replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
^ pretty similar to what i was thinking. You're only getting 2,800 out of the 143's? Seems really slow. I would think you should easily be doing 3,100+? Shot 130's out of my last .264 @ 3,300. Nice rifle btw. Looks like a real shooter -
Wish you weren't in tucson

Anyone reloading for a .264 win mag?
GreyGhost85 replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
i shot 130 sciroccos out of my last .264. loved them, but they are getting really hard to find and are double the price of most other bullets. i ordered a box of 143 eld-x and 130 eld match today along with 100 pieces of Norma brass. hoping the 143's shoot well, if not, i know i'll be able to get the 130's to shoot -
Anyone reloading for a .264 win mag?
GreyGhost85 replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
i would guess in the ballpark of 1000 in a .264. My dad burned one out in a 300 win mag in less than that though. -
Anyone reloading for a .264 win mag?
GreyGhost85 replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I am not sure why the .264 hasn't gained any ground in recent years with 6.5 craze that has been happening. We have always had a couple in the family. the round was introduced in the late 50's, believe it or not, and quickly earned the reputation of being a "barrel burner" because it was one of the first real magnum rounds and it never really got past it's initial reputation. It is probably no worse than most of the big magnums in that aspect anymore and has to be a lot better on barrel life than the 26 Noslers or 6.5x300 wby's that have become so popular. -

If i remember correctly, my ravens had a pretty good day against the dolphins this year? Do you remember the score?

Then what happened to you? haha. i figured he had a Round Valley education based on his high level of intelligence

I don't know who i like less, Ronda or Nunez? I'm leaning toward wanting Rousey to win just because she is American i guess. I hope Cruz wins because i don't like Garbrandt but Cruz's fights are usually pretty boring. Knowing that there is a huge chance that all his fights will go to a decision takes some of the fun out of it for me. I am enjoying how is is dismantling Garbrandt in all of their interviews though. Seems like a well educated dude. I am really looking forward to watching the TJ Dillashaw fight (He is #1 ranked and SHOULD be fighting Cruz IMO) because he is a big hunter and not shy to talk about it.

Hunts for Heroes - Desert Bighorn hunt
GreyGhost85 replied to Swamp's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
Remarkable story and turnout. Congrats to all involved. Selfishly wishing the hunt lasted another day so i could have been there! Big kudos to the hunter that so generously donated this tag. Not very many people would sacrifice what is more than likely their only opportunity at a Desert Bighorn in their lifetime. Love it that the Hunter sacrificed something like this to an American Hero that sacrificed so much to all of us. -
Anyone bought anything from Gunbroker? Anyone know a good FFL?
GreyGhost85 posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I think I finally found my next rifle and it is on Gunbroker. I have never bought anything off the site. I know basically I buy it and it needs to get shipped to an FFL, but has anyone here ever bought anything off of there that can help me out? Any one here an FFL that would be willing to help, or anybody know a good FFL that could? FFL east valley preferred. thanks for the help in advance!
