I shed about 25lbs since about april. Now i'm just in maintenance. Trying to stay in the 225-230 range through the fall, and from here on out really. Gym about 4x a week and staying off of real starchy foods for the time being. When hunts get a little closer, the cardio sessions will become more frequent and less focus on weights

Seems our area is a little off this year bullwinkle. I have a pile of cameras out now. Been raining a lot more in the last couple weeks. Hopefully they aren't too far behind for the opener. I won't shoot a buck that is real knobbed out

I'm pretty sure bith the raffle and the auction buck were killed on the Bo

"How did I live without it?" Hunting Gear
GreyGhost85 replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
trekking poles were a game changer for me. especially when you're hauling meat. mine are Easton and they work great. don't really see any room for improvement. i picked them up on camofire for like $30-$40 it seems like. also, little mesh drawstring bags to keep all your goodies separated in your pack. one with knives and gear, one with snacks and an extra. nothing more aggravating than searching for something you know you have that's rolling around in the bottom of your pack somewhere -

The auction antelope got killed too. Looks like a biggun

That buck's got a lotta funk for sure. Thanks for the pics

Coverts suck. Sorry, but honest. Put electrical tape over thier sensor so only about a 3/8" square of it is showing. This WILL fix the issue

pawn shops near the rez are always great places to pick up used chainsaws. as soon as logging season is over, they end up in there. the one in globe is a great place and Red's between Bylas and Fort Thomas always has some great saws

Pull the reports from at least 5 years back to get a better idea of what to expect. Any sheep tag is a great sheep tag

Looks like a drainage that had some water run down it and washed the leaves out of the middle

you have to have cell service from whatever carrier the camera is programmed to, then i think you have to sign up for a monthly service, much like having a cell phone. i have heard you can rack up a big bill every month in high traffic areas

Question:Will lightning shut off the camera?
GreyGhost85 replied to Alpinebullwinkle's topic in Trail Cameras
Is it me, or is it really strange that a lot of us had cameras shut off at potentially the exact same time? Hmmmm. Sounds like EMP testing. Haha -

Question:Will lightning shut off the camera?
GreyGhost85 replied to Alpinebullwinkle's topic in Trail Cameras
I wonder if there was some kind of big electrical storm or something? My camera shut off either the 14th or 15th in unit 27 as well -
Question:Will lightning shut off the camera?
GreyGhost85 replied to Alpinebullwinkle's topic in Trail Cameras
i had the EXACT same thing happen a few weeks ago. my camera ran fine for about a month and shut off about a week before i picked it up. when i got to the camera i turned it off then on again. full battery life, seemed to be working fine. never thought about the possibility of it being lightning? -
oooh, that sounds juicy? i hammered an antelope a few years ago in colorado. straight through the lungs at about 500 yards. the buck took off like antelope do a lot and went on about a half mile death run that seemed to last all of about 20 seconds. died right in front of another hunter near a road. he loaded my buck up and hauled butt. i wasn't too heart broken. he was just an average buck and the place i was hunting was loaded up with goats that year. shot and tagged another one the next morning

man. tough break. i always hear stories like that and wonder what the conclusion would be if it happened to me. got any pics of those monster bucks you guys killed?
-
depending on the unit, catch them out in the flats at daylight and cut them off when they head back into the timber to bed down
-
had another hunter steal a 230" buck? can you expand on this? my most memorable hunts are where i killed a 374" 7X7 on an early archery hunt and had my dad and brother with me, as well as an old family friend. or the 402" bull i shot on the last day of the hunt after grinding it out and hunting by myself most of the time in an extremely tough unit. been with my brother on a couple outstanding bulls the last couple years too. the size of the animal doesn't make the hunt, but it sure makes them more memorable

Think I need to have GreyGhost85 re score my goat for me. Can we add inside spread to him? He'd be over 90" for sure if we did..haha Out of curiosity would my goat be bigger by SCI guidelines GreyGhost85?Yeah, and your avatar buck scores 100". That buck i posted was killed with an auction tag last year smart@ss. Do your homework before you try to make a mockery out of somebody that knows what he is talking about. I've killed 5 antelope myself and probably been on 30 antelope kills, but what do i know? Listen you know it all prick! i was joking about re scoring my goat, hence the joke about adding spread. The question about the SCI scoring was an actual question due to the fact that i didn't know if the had different criteria for SCI. I not once was questioning your "knowledge". But i will tell you one thing. you need to watch who you run your mouth to, and not be so quick to jump to your ignorant defense. And if you have some text book response about "keyboard tough guys" send me a message and we can settle this like men. If that's not something your willing to do then i suggest you shut your trap! I have been nothing but respectful since i joined this site all i expect is the same. Well, i wasn't going to respond to your nonsense, but here I am. You obviously attacked me to begin with. Play dumb if you like. I am a "know it all prick"? I don't think so. There are some people on here that have a LOT of knowledge on hunting, and I am one of them. I grew up with an outfitter as a father and spent my fall every year in elk camp. I've picked up a thing or two. Now, I need to watch who i run my mouth to? Do your research and get back to me. I am not someone you would want to tangle with. I promise you that. A lot of people on here know me personally and will testify to that. You better be 10' tall and bullet proof to act like thay to anyone you do not know. You are right however, about being respectful on this forum. That is why your first response to me caught me off guard. My name is Bridger. I am not hard to find if you are so adament about "settling this like men". I hope we can chalk it up to a misunderstanding On both parties and move on, but if you feel so inclined to seek me out, so be it and good luck

if you subtract 4 inches, that buck still goes over 90 B&C. He's 94" and change net B&C, 97 and change SCI

prongs are measured from the tip of the prong to the center of the back of the horn, not just how far they protrude. that buck is mid to high 80's for sure. lots of people underestimating him. look at some of the ones that go around 90 on pronghorn guide services page. they look VERY similar. i bet his horns are around 15" too. lots curl to them too. this buck was killed last year and scores way over 90"
