Well, i sure am disappointed. This thread had possibly an all time high potential and it's turning into a bust. Boo
-
i think that is going to turn into a good bull. really good G1's,2's and 3's. back end still really knobby so he has a lot of growth left. he will end up bigger than the bull in the OP for sure.
-
.....and i had high hopes for this thread.

post em up!! Elk do love cameras. almost as much as mules and bears.
-
I would guess that bull doesn't really have any "surprises" left in his growth. i agree with the 310-320" 5x6. he is ahead of a lot bulls on growth, but doesn't look like he has a lot left in the tank. couple inches on all his points and mainbeams is all the growth he'll put on IMO. his 5X side is a little palmated at the end though. he might squeeze out a small 6th point on it

Bullets tight when chambered **Update**
GreyGhost85 replied to Camofreak's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Bullets are definitely loded too long. The scrapes are from your bullet being jammed into the lands, or rifling. -
Dumb...not impressed. Couple old guys with money trying to compensate.

Wow, with a response like that, i'm sure people are going to line up to give a non contributing newbie all their secret spots! Good luck!

Great movie. It's a shame Robert Redford is an Obama lover though

What would you build, as the perfect coues cartridge ?
GreyGhost85 replied to Splatt's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
6.5's are hard to beat. i sold my .264 win mag a few months ago and now i am going to have to replace it. Will either get another .264 win mag or 6.5x284. i prefer the 6.5's that you can push a 140 above 3000fps out of. I was shooting 130's out of my .264 at about 3300 fps. They hammered everything they hit. deer, elk, bears, everything. -
Good seller, easy to deal with. Nice meeting you!

This is a good thread. As daylight starts to light up the hillside you know there is a big animal on and you are already behind your tripod. Hard to beat that feeling

This post is 12 years old....ultimate Zombie thread

Releasing trout? Blasphemy! Those white meat stockers are so delicious and flavorful!..... 1. Seeing successful draw results 2. Big elk 3. When hunting season finally starts again

looking at gunbroker, there are a couple similar rifles, not in as good shape and no documentation like yours has, they are asking over $4,000. i would assume that it's gotta be worth more than that. hopefully "Levers" will weigh in

Had to rescue some Trail Cams from Wildfire
GreyGhost85 replied to TwoOneEight Photography's topic in Trail Cameras
there are no rules in place about when you can and cannot run trail cameras. nothing has changed. technically anything left in the woods is considered abandoned after X amount of time. that is the risk with running trail cameras, nobody can really enforce anything if they are stolen because technically they can be considered abandoned property -
some guys are getting sweet deals. the scopes on the rifles, particularly the muzzy and .270, are worth near asking price.

Replacing an Accutrigger
GreyGhost85 replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Is the issue that your accutrigger isn't light enough, or just don't like it? i love the feel of my accutrigger but i can only get it down to 3-3.5 lbs. i see you can buy a replacement spring for about $5 that will knock off a pound or so of pull. -
Hoping it's a wolf that someone ditched. Wishful thinking i'm sure. Probaly a coyote from a contest like th said
-
Call in "catty" areas and call for a long time. An hour or more per stand. Don't shoot any foxes, coyotes, bobcats, or anything else that comes in
-
oof. what a bear. congrats

Depends completely on moisture. If the burn areas start getting a lot of rain right away, they will green up in a hurry. If it stays dry, they will be desolate. It seems to me, in areas where scorching burns push through, it takes a year or so for the vegetation and wildlife to return

I think the two consecutive years of good weather is what is really helping the elk this year. My last tags i had were in drought years. Sure happy to have a tag this year with great antler growth. Great pics, keep up the good work

Escudilla and Baldy next?
GreyGhost85 replied to billrquimby's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Sonoran Grizzlies were eradicated, the grizzlies that we have are not the same species as what used to roam AZ. Saying you would be behind reintroduction is the part that bothers me. Grizzlies have caused more issues in northwestern states as of late than i would care to see in AZ. We are already dealing with wolves in the blue, last thing we need is more granola eaters with a gps, tracking an animal that has no business being part of the landscape. Selfish due to the fact that the possibility of some day shooting a grizzly bear in Arizona outweighs the obvious negative effects they would bring
