That's too bad about your ground blind situation hawkeye. I may be wrong here but the way I read all of this is the national forest officials are trying to eleminate campers and hunters from leaving thier trailers and camps in the woods unattended for multpile days. I know alot of people who leave thier trailers in thier favoriate spot when they leave for the week go to home back to the valley to go to work, then come back the following weekend to hunt or get out of the heat. IMHO I don't think it's right to lay claim on a campsite during the week when you aren't there. If you have to go home for a day or two that's one thing but to leave your rig unattended for 5 days I think is being a little selfish with everyone's land. Everyone should have a fair chance to find a decent camp site. There are plenty of places to store trailers close to Flag, Payson, Prescott, and Showlow when you leave for multiple days.

Those binos are pretty sweet! Since you went down in power on binos will you be carrying a spotting scope as well?

Nice buck he will make a cool mount. Thanks for sharing and good luck on your wife's hunt, also good luck to your brother hope he gets to bag one too!

I would use the pressure washer method if you have access to one. Its way faster and you don't have to deal with the smell of boiling brains for four hours. After blasting all the flesh off the skull simply soak it in peroxide over night.

I have a two part question here. What system or method do you use to care for your meat while in camp and prior to processing? Has anyone ever used a vacuum sealer to package meat? Also how long did it keep in the freezer? This year I took a buck on opening morning of the first rifle season. Cleaned him up using the gutless method and lost no meat. He hung in a tree for two days before I could get the meat to a cooler (We were packed in and the meat never got warm). Packed out and washed any little bit of hair off the meat and kept dry and cold on a ice chest for four more days before cutting up. Cut steaks and cubed up the hinds for roast or stew meat, the rest went to the processor to get ground. Have had some steaks so far and they were awesome. thx.

Nice Buck and write up........Congrats

That's a very unique kill especially with a bow and no dogs. Mount him or at least get the hide tanned for a throw. Congrats

A friend of mine lost a pack with a tripod and Outdoorsman pistol grip head attached to a Nikon spotting scope. He lost it on the 486 rd. just south of the Buzzard Roust Ranch on Thursday afternoon (10-24). This equipment does belong to a youth hunter and was lost out of the back of a ranger. If you have found it or know who has please Call Brian at 602.558.0567 or send me a PM. Thanks JS

TOOK THE LIFT OFF OF MY TRUCK AND NEED THESE OUT OF MY GARAGE. THREE OF THE TIRES ARE IN OK SHAPE WITH A LITTLE TRED LEFT AND THE FOURTH IS AN OD BALL THAT IS NOT VERY GOOD. THE RIMS ON THE OTHER HAND ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, STEEL EAGLES WITH LUGS. 315/75/R16. I BELIEVE THEY WILL FIT ANY FORD F250-350 THAT IS THE SAME BODY STYLE AS A 2000. $200 OR TRADE FOR HUNTING OR CAMPING ITEMS LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GOT. THANKS FOR LOOKING!

Price drop........make offer!

Cant beat Talley rings and a Harris bipod.

+1 on the ball head or pistol grip style. I have a Vortex Ridgeview tripod with a built in ball joint. Topped with HD 15X50 Vipers. Its a relatively inexpensive set up (around $800) and I find just as much game a my buddies who have WAY more expensive setups. I also have a lighter setup composed of Nikon 10x42's and a Vortex High Country tripod (around $450) which also has a ball joint head, I use this setup for archery hunts where there is usually a lot more hiking to do.

There are a lot of heavy hearts in the rodeo community throughout the west right now. The lord must have needed a great cowboy to work along side him in heaven. Wyatt Althoff is a truly amazing man. Was love and admired by many, always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He will never be forgotten. Prayers and condolences to his family and closest friends. JS
