My suspension is that the individual(s) offended are not familiar with the Black Panther organization and took the joke for something it wasn't.

I don't see how this could be considered racist. This group gave themselves the name "black panthers"???

I had the same idea. If your concern is making it stand out, how about a tree that is not native to the area.

I'm all for memorials but how about one that enhances the outdoors rather than makes it look like a closet floor?

For the time being I can only dream of owning a piece of land like this. Good Luck with the sale. -
Fines need to be sever enough to make it not worth tbe risk. I also wouldn't mind seeing a hotline for reporting such fires.

I wouldn't risk it on the floor. It will also likely get a lot dirtier on the floor. Go with the wall.

I'm looking to rent a travel trailer for 4 or 5 nights in July to take my family camping up on the rim. I rented one from a guy on Craigslist once in the past but that turned out to be a bad experience. The pictures looked great but the trailer was a filthy broken down mess. Anyhow I thought I'd check to see if anyone on here is interested in renting theirs, or could direct me to someone. I have lots of experience pulling trailers and owned a travel trailer for several years until we moved into a neighborhood with an HOA. Here is what I am looking for: I would need to be able to pull it with my Chevy Tahoe. I don't need a generator. I need a restroom with a toilet and shower/tub for the wife and kids. Thanks

Sendero Stock Trigger vs Timney vs Shilen
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Been looking at the Shilens this afternoon but it looks like I would also need a safety kit and bolt release, in addition to the Shilen trigger, to swap out the x-mark. But I couldn't find those other two components anywhere. Anyone else run into this? -

Sendero Stock Trigger vs Timney vs Shilen
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Well, I went out and shot the new 300 RUM this morning. Love the rifle, and the Badger Thruster brake I put on it minimizes the recoil to where it feel like shooting my .243. However, the factory trigger is definitely not happening. Thinking I'm going to give the Timney a try. -
I'm in!

I recently changed out the scope on my Remington 700 and went from a 1" scope to a 30 mm scope. The 1" Talley scope rings are no longer needed and are in perfect used condition. Asking $25 I live in Queen Creek and work in Tempe. I can meet in either location. I'm happy to help you mount and bore sight your scope if needed. I will post a picture of the rings this evening. You can see the same rings at the following link: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/884645/talley-lightweight-2-piece-scope-mounts-with-integral-1-rings-remington-700-matte-low

Swhackers for bull elk? Updated testing..
rossislider replied to TOBY's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I also like the Swhackers but am considering giving Slick Trick a try. I first tried Swhackers because of their buy one get one free deal. I recently contacted Swhacker to see if they might run that deal again this summer and was told no. Reasons I like Swhacker are because they fly like my broadheads and seem solid. I have not yet had the opportunity to take any game with them. But, last year while coues hunting with them, I got a shot at a turkey. My shot was high and my arrow went over the turkey into pine needles and dirt. When I found my arrow I discovered that the blades had deployed and bent. Not only did the blades bend but the entire tip bent. This happened on soft mountain soil and pine needles. Not sure what might have happened on a rip cage or shoulder on an angled shot. Still, I haven't thrown them out and will probably give them another try. The reason I am considering trying Slick Trick is because, as suggested, I am still not 100% convinced of the reliability or durability of mechanical broadheads. I have tried G5 Montecs but could not get groupings I was comfortable with past 30 yards. Good Luck! -

A Couple of New Muzzle Brakes
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I had two different gunsmiths do them. The shrewd was by my Lance at Dane Customs. The Badger was done by Keith at Phoenix Custom in Tempe. I have different reasons for why I would and would not use each gunsmith in the future. I was really impressed with the turn around time of Keith at Phoenix Customs. I took the rifle in on Wednesday afternoon and he called me on Thursday morning to let me know it was done. I found the work quality to be good as well. Brake and labor came to $195. Lance at Dane Customs does not have nearly as good of a turn around time. Don't plan on getting your riffle back for at least a couple of weeks. He might be able to rush it for you, but don't plan on it. HOWEVER, Lance's work is outstanding and super clean! Take my brake for example, you can't tell where the rifle ends and the brake starts. I even had a gun salesman try to argue with me that it wasn't an actual brake, rather holes drilled into my barrel. Had to measure the barrel length to prove it to him. I believe this brake was also in the neighborhood of $200. Which one will I us in the future? Perhaps both. But if time isn't an issue, Lance at Dane Customs wins hands down.
