I am looking to sell my .270 and scope. It is a Ruger M77 Mark II with a Leupold VX-I 4-12x40 scope. I bought scope and gun together brand new in Fall of 2006 from Sportsmans Warehouse in Mesa. I cleaned the rifle after every shot for the first 5 shots and every 5 shots since. Rifle has about 100 shots down the barrel. It loves 130 gr Hornady Interbond and dropped my deer this year on the spot at 425 yards. The gun has been used but not abused and is in overall great condition. The stock has a few very minor scratches from use in the field. The scope is in very good condition. I will sell scope and gun together for $650. If you only need one or the other I will sell rifle for $450 and scope for $200. I have the Butler Creek flip up scope covers that I will also include. I am not interested in any trades. I don't want to sell either of these but I am having surgery this week and will be out of work for a month or so. PM me if interested. Thanks, Daryl

Is that the safety that you slide up or down with your thumb?? If so, then no. It has the two position safety on the bolt. I will take pictures and post them up. Give me a few minutes.

I only looked at it in the package so I was not aware of that. I definitely would not go with plastic.

Bass Pro has an adapter that is identical to the one that Nikon makes for I believe around $10. I can't find it online but I've seen it in their store. Maybe you could call the store and see if you could somehow pay for it and have them send it to you. Or just order from Amanda.

That's a great day of hunting. Casey, you should try the 55 gr v-max. Hornady factory loads are about 3200 fps.

You're right. I got caught up in the moment and didn't think of that. I changed my first response.

Anybody that takes the time to go hunting has no excuse for not taking the time to know the rules of what is open and when. Before I go out bow hunting I always double and triple check that the unit I plan on being in is open. Hopefully they were hunting for something like coyotes.

That is a very cool buck. It's like everyone says about "the look." I wouldn't hesitate at all to wrap my tag on a buck like that.

The only problem I see here is that you are insinuating that anybody who takes a long range shot is not hunting or isn't a hunter. Well, what do you consider long range or not? Does a 300 yard kill make me a hunter and a 400 yard kill make me not worthy to be called a hunter? Where do you draw the line???? Does a 60 yard archery kill make you less of a hunter because you couldn't get to 20? Does taking less than 10-20 days mean you didn't put in the time to be worthy of being called a hunter? Does being done with my hunt at 7:30 am opening morning make my hunt less meaningful? If you saw a 110" buck walk by in front of you on opening morning while you are glassing and stop broadside at 30 yards with no idea you are there, would you shoot it? Wouldn't doing so go against what you have said you believe about hunting? By the way, I have no problem with your style of hunting or how you choose to do it. To me it sounds like you are very dedicated and very good at what you do. It just rubs people the wrong way when you arrogantly suggest that their way is the wrong way, or that you are better than them because you do it differently.

That is an outstanding buck, very cool looking!! Congrats.

Bump $700 Just had surgery and need the money. I found another 10 rounds of hornady ammo with the 55 gr v-max that I will also throw in.

A 2011 coues hunt for my 12yr old son?
daryl_s replied to Kel's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
The early juniors hunts in 22 or 23 are the best hunts possible IMO. I believe draw rate is about 50% or better and it is any antlered deer. Success rates on these hunts are as good as anywhere. Makes me wish I was still a junior hunter. -
Great write up Andrew. Way to stick it out and get your buck. Hunting with family is the best. I'm almost 30 years old and my dad is still my best hunting partner. Great 3x3 for a first buck.

Excellent buck and excellent shooting. Congratulations!!

Let me start by saying that I have taken shots that I shouldn't have. I believe I have learned from those experiences. A lot of what I have learned has come from reading about shooting, hunting, and other techniques from a lot of you here on this site. When I started hunting I didn't know what I was doing and it was just lack of experience. I have learned a ton from you guys and what I have learned I have tried to apply to my hunting trips since I joined this site 5 or 6 years ago. I am a much better and much more prepared hunter now because of it. I think most people, not all, on this forum will agree with you and are responsible hunters. The only thing about a large % of these hunters that you are talking about is that they will never see or hear what you said here.

Rick, congrats to your daughter on a beautiful buck. I can't wait for the day that I can take my kids hunting.

Scope has been sold. Rifle is still available.
