That is really cool that you guys got to experience that together. I hunt a lot with my dad and a day like that would be awesome.

Yesterday was the first day I was able to get out for my hunt and it was soooo windy. I was able to pick up four does in an area that was secluded from the wind but that was it. I'm looking forwarded to hunting the week of Christmas.

I absolutely will not go out clean shaven. I have to have a goatee or something going. My last buck I shot I had the goatee look. The two following years I did not have it and came home empty handed. My two scouting trips for this hunt yielded good results and I had the goatee. I'm heading out in a few hours to start my late hunt and I haven't shaved. I don't like having a beard or goatee because it bothers me but it's not coming off until I tag out or Dec. 31, whichever comes first.

You do have just as much right to be out there as the Rifle hunters. If you have a license, a tag and it's open season then it shouldn't matter. That's like the people who drag a dead tree across a road because they want exclusive access to a public area. I have a December 36C tag and if you come across my camp you're more than welcome to stop by.

Saturday afternoon about 4:45 as we were heading home to get ready to head back out Monday(today) I saw a Dodge flatbed truck with the CWT sticker on the back. It was on the Houston Mesa road a few miles from the Whispering Pines community. I wasn't driving and we were pulling a trailer otherwise I would have headed back to say hi. There a a bunch of people standing around.

Was up in 22N this past weekend with my dad and his friend. My dad's friend lost his brand new $280 digital camera that he had never used. It fell out of his pack(very old pack). I won't say the area because they are back up there this week and in the bulls. It's killin me bein back home and not knowin the results yet.

Congratulations on an accomplishment of a lifetime. That is so cool that you were able to achieve a lifelong goal like that. I really enjoyed the story and the pictures, I felt like I was there. I am still amazed at that buck.

I have heard the same about garage door openers. Anybody know anymore about that???? I always lock my house door inside my garage before I go anywhere. I realize that still leaves the inside of my garage vulnerable.

My dad has the 300 win mag barrel that will be going on his elk hunt Thanksgiving weekend. He uses factory ammo for the 300. He also has a 22-250 barrel that he handloads for. I think he has gotten good results out of both. I'll ask him for details when I see him tomorrow.

I always stay out all day long. It is always too far from camp and takes too much effort to get where I am going to not stay all day long. A nap is always a must though. As hard as I try I can't not take a nap. I think it might have cost me a shot though about 2 years ago. I was dozing off and I heard something below me and as I looked up I saw the body of a deer, not the head, duck into the super thick stuff below me. It went to water at the only spot of the water hole that I couldn't see. I'm sure it had to have been a buck. I saw tons of deer hit that water that day and they were all does and they all went to the open side of the water hole. Just my luck . Had I not dozed off I would have seen that deer out in the open before he hit the thick stuff.

Best of luck to all of you that have the early hunts. Leave at least a few good bucks for those of us that have to wait.

I went out Saturday and did some more scouting and saw three more bucks. All 3 were still in velvet.
