I read all these stories and am very entertained by them. As I am reading I try to think of some kind of story to contribute but nothing really comes to mind. I've had tons of great times hunting just nothing really weird. So anyways........my dad and I leave my house at 3 AM this past Saturday to go scouting for our November hunt in 36A. We get to the spots we want to glass from just as it gets light enough to glass. My dad forgot his tripod so I let him use mine since he's using 15x Swaros and I'm using the featherweight 12x42 monarchs. I do the best I can without a tripod and manage to find two bucks about 1000 yards out. I only see them for a few seconds, just long enough to tell that they are bucks. I also manage to find a spike and later a doe on the hill in front of me. At about 10 we meet up near the top of the next hill North and set up to glass on the other side. Nothing. We head down the hill and get on the main road heading back to my car. We are about a quarter mile away when something unusual somehow catches my attention back in the bushes off the road. Now this is a main road through 36A that I know will be heavily traveled in the upcoming Oct and Nov hunts. The road had also just very recently been scraped. So I start heading off the road towards this thing I see back in the bushes. My dad gives me this weird look and says "Where are you going?" He hadn't seen anything. I said "Hold on, there's something over here." Once I thought I knew what it was I said "Dad get over here." He walked over to where I was and when we were about 40 feet away it was very clear and obvious what it was. That's as close as I got to it. Now I wish I didn't have anything to contribute to this thread. I came across something I never ever hope to find again out in the desert or anywhere. It was the body of a person laying on the ground probably 30 yards or so off of the road. I won't describe it but from that distance it was very obvious that it had been there for at least a few weeks. There was no bad smell, I think that's why it hadn't been found yet. There's lot of trash, water bottles, clothes, backpacks, etc down there and I really don't know how a tiny glimpse of something from where it was caught my eye. Needless to say it was not a pleasant experience and it was disturbing enough to me to almost not make me want to go down there anymore. I marked the spot on my GPS and I called the Pima County Sherriff and gave them the coordinates and told them roughly how to get there. They called me that evening and let me know that they recovered the body. They said that it appeared to be an undocumented alien who died of dehydration. There are two sources of water within a quarter mile of where he was laying. Saturday night I did not sleep well, I woke up about 3 or 4 times and I think probably snuggled in a little closer to my wife . It's an image I will never be able to erase from my mind.

Congrats, way to get er done. You've killed as many big game animals in the last few weeks(2) as I have in my life. Go get you a big buck this fall to complete the hat trick.

My wife and I have a timeshare in San Carlos, Sonora Mexico at the Sea of Cortez Premier Vacation Club. We have it booked for Oct 14-21 and can't go . It's a 6-7 hr drive from the Phoenix area depending upon where you live. There's a ton of cool stuff to do down there and San Carlos is very family friendly. Kelbro's got the trip, I hope he has an awesome time. As far as permits, visas, etc go to my understanding you currently need a visa even if you're only going to San Carlos even though it is part of the zona libre(free zone). The zona libre only goes to Empalme(Just past Guaymas and before Ciudad Obregon). If you go farther than Empalme you will have to get the car permit.....I believe it cost me $20 for the Sonora Only permit. Passports are not required to re-enter the US by car until 2008. They were required for air travel but I heard that since the passport agencies are so far backed up that now if you have the receipt for your passport that they will accept it. I went down to Ciudad Obregon back in February when my sister-in-law was having her baby and I did not know that I needed a visa. When I tried to register my car in Empalme they would not let me because I didn't have the visa. Luckily since my wife was with me(she was born in Mexico) they let us register it in her name verifying her connection to me through our son's birth certificate. They have made things easier but they are constantly changing so just make sure you check with reliable sources before heading down. More D hit it right on the head with the whole tourism deal......Eduardo Bours who is the governor of Sonora has a big investment in hotels in Sonora and they have invested a lot of money in tourism advertisements and road improvements. Overall my experiences traveling to Mexico have been worry and trouble free. Stay on the toll roads, going through Hermosillo just pay close attention to the signs for Guaymas and it's a really easy drive. It's 250 miles from Nogales to San Carlos. I love going to Mexico and it kills me that I can't go but I'm glad that Kelbro's going to get to enjoy it. Someday I am going to have my own place down there.

Average high is 88 and average water temp is 84 at the surface in October in San Carlos, hard to beat. That's why early in the year we booked it for that time. Plus, as far as I know and from our experiences the jellyfish are gone by that time. $500 doesn't even cover my maintenance fees for the timeshare, this is a smokin deal. Tell your friends.

Here are some of the pictures we took while down there in April of this year. There's some great snorkeling down there. Scuba too, but I'm not certified yet. San Carlos "Where the desert meets the sea!" Here is another view of Tetakawi peak from up the coast well past the fishing village Here is a nice shot looking up the coast from the balcony. The balconies face west so you get to soak in the nice sunsets every evening. Can't wait to go back.
