That's what we do Lark, but I wasn't responding because he was asking for quick meal solutions. Every morning we get up early enough to cook up and eat a good breakfast, eggs, hash browns, sausage and OJ. Gotta start off the day right, even if it means getting up a little earlier. It's so much easier to get up early when it's for hunting.

I couldn't agree more with you. I hunted in that mossy oak junk last year cause it was all I had. It is not ideal for the desert country. I am definitely going to get different camo before this season. However, I think that no matter what color of camo you get you need to treat it with UV killer. Once I started using this stuff I noticed a huge difference and have not stopped using it since. I absolutely will not go without this stuff ever again. I have no problem with NR hunters and I think that they are probably more respectful of the land than some of the goofballs I've seen out in the field. Deerslam brings up a good point about not being able to hunt in any other states. I personally have never hunted out of state but I do plan to in the upcoming years. I think 10% isn't too bad. With as much as the tags are going to increase next year I would be opposed to further increases. When you put in by yourself it's not that big of a deal, but if you have a family that likes to hunt then it's going to get pricey for a lot of people. Not everybody gets out in the field with over $2000 worth of optics and high dollar rifles and scopes, some of us are just average joe's that don't have the money for that stuff. I hope hunting doesn't get too expensive in the coming years.

mulie hunter, I went to the Sportsmans in Mesa and the biggest they had where the 12x42, the guy told me that they were supposed to get the 12x56 a month ago. He said they're coming but doesn't know when. If you look them up on Cabela's website it shows what options you have with the Monarchs. I think I might like to investigate a little more before I buy them, I think it's easy to be impressed inside the store. Does anybody know about the return policies???? I would like to be able to take them out in the field and then have the option of taking them back if I am not satisfied. I know the quality of the swaros because my dad just got some 15x56's last fall. I would like to get some swaros but I just don't know if I can bring myself to spend that much. Anybody know of any good sales on swaros out there????? I know they have them on sale every now and then. If I do end up getting swaros I'd get the 10x50.

I too am looking for new binoculars but don't want to spend a ton of money. After reading the suggestions here I went to Sportsman's warehouse and checked out the Nikon Monarchs and was very impressed. I will be purchasing a pair of the 12x56's here in a few weeks, they run between $400-500 depending on where you get them. Thanks for the good ideas.

I know it doesn't completely eliminate the possibility of a mess up but I have already decided that I am not going to apply online ever again.

My dad and I were drawn for 36b HAM and 36b October WT. The HAM will be a hunt/scouting trip. The late WT hunt still eludes me but at least I'm going hunting, WOO HOO!!!!!

We haven't been hit yet on the cc so I have now lowered my expectations to the early hunt, please just give a tag, even if it's not my precious late wt hunt. I am getting desperate. I even put te early hunt second choice so that I don't get skunked.

Welcome Dave, glad you joined up. I've noticed lately that there has consistently been more guests than members reading in the discussion forum lately, hopefully they'll join up too. Casey....I think I got it figured out......they are charging the 36b late hunt guys last , yeah that's what I keep telling myself anyways because STILL NO HITS ON THE CC FOR US EITHER!!!!! I feel like I am on life support and at the last second they will post that I got a tag and I will just barely pull through. Heck, I am even reducing my expectations to the early hunt, JUST GIVE ME A DEER TAG .

reddog, that's cool that you got the late hunt since you didn't get drawn the last 2 years, I put 36B first choice every year but am yet to get it. I'll find out later today if we even got drawn. Congrats.

Are you sure you got the late hunt reddog??? That would be cool for you if it is since you didn't get drawn the last few years. Either way congrats on getting drawn.

Welcome Switchback, glad to have you on board. When I found CWT.com I read the discussion forum for a few weeks before I joined. I've noticed lately that with the draw results about to come out it shows a lot more guests than members reading the discussion forum. Hopefully they join up soon. I've seen discussion forums on similar topics and this one is the best by leaps and bounds. The wealth of knowledge that so many people have here in this forum is amazing. I'm still in the early stages of my hunting experiences so I read much more than I post. Hope you like it here as much as we all do.

For my Dec 36B hunt I plan on getting a new scope for my .243, new pack, new boots, new sidearm, and probably some other stuff since I don't have very much hunting gear yet. Oh yeah, new binoculars....anybody have experience with Leupold binoculars???????? I was wondering if they are very good or not since they are a lot cheaper than the top of the line glasses. I should have enough time to accumulate all this since I have until December .

It was probably some kid out messin' around with his new toy bow with a 10lb draw. I remember when I was about 10 yrs old I had a little 10-15 lb bow and I would go into the hills and fields by my house "huntin" for rabbits. of course i was never even close to hittin anything but dirt. and if a kid got that lucky on a shot what are the chances that it would go through and not even slow the bird down???? who knows, pretty weird either way.

Gotta love those rumors.......getcha all pumped up and excited and then WHAM!!!!!!! they crush all that hope you had of finding out today. somebody somewhere is getting a good laugh at our expense. it will be worth the wait when I find out I finally got my 36B late hunt .
