Bullet Stuck in Lands
muledeerarea33? replied to MULEPACKHUNTER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
They make a setup to measure your chamber or you can use a cleaning rod and some tape to measure. Book charges are ok but for length it's best to check the gun itself then you know how long is to long etc. should help in the future. Sucks your hunt was ruined. I keep a 3 piece cleaning rod and a brass end in my pack (not for that issue) but incase I fall or get mud or something in my barell. I also load all my Sierra stuff from an early 70's gold covered book that's signed by the author. Awesome data and its pretty! Lol. Compared to modern manuals it usually shows max charge a few grains higher and dimensions are different in some listings, before lawyers found out there was money to be made on the shooting world. -
Great pack too. Fits my fat gut and its kinda slimming. Thanks and it was really good to meet you.

Hahaha!!! That's funny!! I don't care who you are!! First coues, I enjoyed that. No grudges on either side but goodness I liked that! -
If the straps are long enough for a fat guy I'll take it. Where in Tucson are you? Pm me and I'd love to test it.

Anybody get out yet??
muledeerarea33? replied to KidBowHunter's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I've been waiting too. Nights are getting cooler. I'm guessing its a bit warm yet to push them down south but with this big cold front that's supposed to be coming I hope it's soon. Haven't seen the usual flights at the house (we have water here they use.) I'm hoping for some geese this year since they've eluded the steel I throw at them every other year. -
I'm with twig snapper. The zeiss is what I have had now for the past few years. For me it's the best I can see with glasses on. Haven't found a pair yet that I can use without the glasses.

I love the bino debates. Yes there is better glass and worse glass, stuff you can afford now and stuff you gotta save for. Many good choices under 500 and I'm willing to bet most folks started in that price range and some are still there. Best advice I can give is to look thru several pairs. Eyeballs don't have a standard viewing perspective, distance apart from one another, or the same vision. Just like binos, eyeballs are different from pair to pair. Just because an expert on here tells you something isn't great doesn't make it true. It may be great for your peepers but not theirs. I use zeiss 10x56 victory and they work great, also have my wind river 10's from several years ago.

zero my rife and using turrets
muledeerarea33? replied to muledeerhntr's topic in Long Range Shooting
Forget all the experts. Shoot and find your true grouping at your hunting elevation. Should only take a weekend or a day. Calculators are great but I always find my self second guessing and making my own ballistic charts. More accurate?? Um, yes because it's actual info!! -
Haha! I'd say magnum P.I. But he wasn't an option.

For an old guy you did good!! Are you starsky or hutch? Lol.

** butcher shop in north phx? maybe west?
muledeerarea33? replied to hoghntr's topic in The Campfire
Sucks being sick! I understand! I'm glad you found a good guy to help you out. If your in the same situation next year, just freeze quarters and cut it up at your leisure. I enjoy "playing" butcher and have got some good cuts!! Oh, they make chain miill gloves so you don't have to worry about you fingers. I'm sure you know all of this but just trying to emphasize home butchering. Hope your better soon. -
50 peices of new brass, $45 in Tucson or Benson.

.223 wssm, 36gn Berger is not loved. At 150 yards I has explosive results. Put milk jugs out at 300 yards. After a few rounds of not hitting I got concerned. Had a buddy shoot while I watched vapor trail. Saw the bullets explode before hitting the target due to speed! Bumped up to 80. Gn VLD'S after that.

Will 5.56 damage fox?
muledeerarea33? replied to backcountry_brad's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
"I would highly doubt ANY manufacturer of ammunition for the specific purpose of taking game would load an FMJ bullet. If it says "for light thin-skinned game", I would bet it was either a small hole hollow point bullet or a lead nosed bullet." Winchester white box 45 acp. and not a hollow point of lead point
