I have been using mostly distress sounds, I can get them to respond to howls but not come in. I am thinking that my scanning light is insufficient, I've got a new one coming from china but the shipping is taking forever. They must be sending it over on row boat or something. If I could use a rifle I would have several more dogs down, I also just need to get faster at transitioning from scanning to on the trigger.

This is a lot harder than I thought it would be! I have been educating a lot of coyotes at night and killing only one. I bet that I am only seeing 1 in 5 that are responding and I have had a few that come in to 100 yards hang around a few seconds and are gone. Shotgun only sucks! And it's fricken cold at night.

Remington advertises that gun with a 1 in 9 1/4 which would be faster than a 1 in11. I think you will be ok.

I agree with DesertBull you should not have to pay to access the National Forest. The USFS has a 2012 budget of over $5 billion, if that is not enough maybe they need to cut some fat out of the back offices. -
I know of something that they can lace the wolves beef with.

I'm stealing one for my avatar, it really cracked me up!

Coyotes are harder to call in because I have already called in and missed most of them. -
Looks Great! I like the Lowe in the driveway... when are we going fishing?

I thought I recognized that buck from the cover of the regs. What an awesome animal! Congrats!

Okay Game and Fish, any time now would be fine!

I think that is correct the whisper and the 450 bushmaster are large calliber subsonic rounds meant to be used with a suppressor, unless you are going to get a silencer I don't know why you would want these rounds.
-
What it boils down to is that 850 rifle hunters and their friends and family are all in the same unit with only a few days to hunt. It is great to try and give other hunters space to hunt but in a situation like this there is not enough physical space in the unit to spread that many people out. In my opinion since there are 100+ tags leftover for these units the game and fish should scrap those tags and make it a more enjoyable hunt for those that applied for it.

Since this thread is 5 years old I would imagine some of you guys must have tagged out by now!

I should have some in two weeks when I butcher two hogs. You are welcome to it. I live in Flagstaff. Thanks everyone, we got my dads elk butchered up yesterday. Mostly we used beef fat but we bought some fatty pork shoulder to mix with some of the sausage so we will see how it turns out. Bryce Canyon I'm very intersted in that I'll send you a pm. Thanks. Picked up those hogs today so I have your hog fat ready to go. It was nice to meet you, thank you again.

Does anybody know a good place to get clean pork fat, it seems most of the butchers don't process their own pork? Thank you
-
If Lark doesn't want that I'll take it. Thanks

Dang, I knew this day was coming but was not looking forward to what it will do to my bighorn sheep odds, I tried to apply online just now and after checkout it gave me a screen that said unexpected error please try again.

While there are lots of units that are open for over the counter archery deer you are correct that the only units that are over the counter for javelina are urban units. What I would suggest is to pick a unit or maybe a group of units like 17a, 17b, 18b, 19a, 19b, and 20a that are all combined for the javelina draw and apply for the by application only javelina tag. If you get drawn which is very likely you can then deer hunt and javelina hunt at the same time. The application deadline to apply for spring javeliina is Oct. 11

The 3 bar study showed us in black and white what the problem is, it is just not politically correct to solve it. -
make sure you check archerytalk.com if you haven't already, good luck on your hunt.
