Is this Spuds McKenzie?

I had driven up to one of my spots late one evening so that I could hike in and set my trail camera in the morning. Since it was such a nice night I just slept in the bed of my truck and when the alarm when off about 15 min. before daylight I snoozed it not wanting to get out of my nice warm bag. I was laying there still half asleep with my head completely under the bag when I felt something heavy shift in my truck, my heart skipped a beat as I was sure that a bear had just jumped into bed with me. As I slowly peeked out from under my bag not wanting to startly it I came face to face with this turkey standing on the rail of my bed and staring at me. Being afraid of getting my eyes pecked out I tried to gently scare the bird away but to no avail, it would just not get out of my truck. Apparently this turkey must be used to being fed by campers because the only way I got it to leave was to crumble up some donuts and throw them away from my truck.

Draw results are getting closer.
missedagain replied to Huntn coues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
GOOD LUCK!! I think 9 points puts you in max point pool for several archery units, I also have 9 going into this draw but chose to buy the point since my first is due on sept. 3 -
Over the counter archery deer tag gone?
missedagain replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I'll third leaving it alone, if you don't like how crowded an area is then find another area! You know that with our g$f even if archery deer did go to a draw they would be giving out 1000's of tags and it would not solve the crowding the only thing it would do is limit hunter oppurtunity -
I found several burnt sheds after the willow springs fire, there were whities that had the tips burnt off, and fresher sheds in the burn area

AGFD announcement regarding budget
missedagain replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
IMO the g$f not recieving all of the funding that they want from a general fund could be a good thing. They already blatantly ignore the wants of arizona sportsmen just image what they will do when they do not need our money -
AZ Game and Fish releases survey results
missedagain replied to Huntin'AZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
what a bunch of bullshit propaganda!! DesertBull hit it on the head, the people complaining that they can't get drawn are the people holding out for a monster tag! The way those questions are worded they give you absolutely no meaningful information!! I am at a loss of why the g$f would waste money on a fixed survey like this when they are going to do whatever is in the best interest of their pocket book anyway! coues84- you say that you haven't seen a coues tag since 02 and an elk tag since 01. This is because you put in for bull elk and dec coues tags (ie quality hunts) it is statistically impossible for you to have not drawn a november coues tag or a cow elk tag (ie oppurtunity hunts) in that time period. You are a perfect example of how this survey and are g$f are total bullshit. If just getting any tag was the most important thing to you, you would have had one by now. I have to go now as I am becoming to angry to type! -
Giving props to the best bow

BowNut- so thats why those things are so expensive... that is a lot of pro shooters to pay off! -
what kind of smoke pole is this?
missedagain replied to jamaro's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
My dad and I both have .54 caliber percusion cap muzzleloaders. we both usually just shoot round balls and can keep a pretty good group at 100 yds. The only thing I have ever killed with mine was a javie but my dad shot a deer last year with his at I think about 90 yds and it blew a hole through both shoulders that you could just about put your fist through -
thanks for the links RR, there is some interesting info in those articles This all just emphasises the importants of good hearing protection. Usually when I am shooting my rifles I will actually put in ear plugs underneath the ear muffs. And the last three shots I have taken on game with my 7 rum I had time to stuff some small pieces of TP in my ears, I know this is not satisfactory hearing protection but it does help alot after all of those shots my ears were not ringing at all.

With the price of all of the other licenses going up it only seems fair for the guide license to go up. I do agree that the g$f is out of control on the percentage increases for all licenses. One of the things that bothers me about guides and guided hunting is in states like NM & WY were hunters using guides get preferential treatment for a public resource over those that are not guided. Also as previously stated a few bad eggs spoil it for everyone else when a guide acts like if he has a client in the area he has a superior right to be there and you are tresspassing on his public land.

I recently purchased a lieca lrf 1200 scan from gr8tfuldoug and I really like it, it is one of the few that I have seen that will get readings on something smaller than a barn at ranges past 500 yards. And you can't beat the price from doug at camera land

What an awesome sight to behold! I would also guess that these are rocky mnt bighorns, not just from there appearance but I believe the desert B.H. rutting period is in late summer and rockys occurs in nov.- dec., but I'm not positive because I've never been allowed to hunt them

TAM- I am not sure if this is how Casey does it, but at the one shooting competition that I went to they measured to the outside edge and then subtracted the diameter of the bullet. So in this case it would have been .454" from outside edge to outside edge minus .270" = .184" group. You can count me out of the shooting competition, I only like to compete with myself. That way I always win!

Looks like that new strain of bovine herpes, I wouldn't have even put it in my truck!

I put one on my 7 RUM and have the BOSS system on my BAR '06. That BAR has no kick at all, the action takes about 30% off and the brake takes about another 30% off. And my 7 RUM just looks really cool!

Nice finds! That is a lot of dead animals on one hill, must be some lions hunting in a pack

The pheasant hunting just looks like to much fun! I am not sure I would know where to start hunting deer in country that flat. Congratulations on a successful trip! And thanks for sharing it with everyone!
