Game and Fish used to haul water to these tanks in the dry years. Now days im sure its not in there budget to do so. What ever the case is, its a shame to see the catchments dry.

I would say you increase your odds big time by sitting water or salt. You just have to have the patience to sit for hours at a time in one place. I will also say it is possible to stalk and be successful as i have many times in the past. You just have to decide what is best at the time. Will

I was lucky(?) to get drawn for a Nov. cow Archery tag in unit 23. Been scouting twice now with not much luck. I no it will change at the weather gets cold up top and the elk start to move for winter. Has anyone had much luck on this hunt? I have talked to a lot of people that say it is a tough hunt. I heard a small blib on 5 news Friday night about shutting down the whole Buenos Aries Wildlife Refuge for several months because of border issues. Has anyone else heard this? I have e-mailed 5 news for the whole story. Will

It would probably be good to take a reciept or printed copy of your application for big horn if you need to make an inquiry about it. Hope you printed it out when you did the transaction, otherwise, there's no telling what could happen. My brother drew a tag last year that he didn't put in for. It was something like a Unit 10 Archery cow tag. I believe he called them and they said he had to have proof of the application he sent in by form of a copy of it. Don't recall exactly, but I think that's what happened. He didn't really want the tag, but he was stuck with it. Hope it works out for you and can find what happened.

The wait will not be long now. I noticed today that i had deductions in my account for Deer and Elk tags... Hopefully that means good results.

Unit 23 is very big. I would start on the L.S. mesa (lonestar) over bear mt. just outside Silver City. Make sure you study your map and stay off private land. Alot of 30" plus bucks over the years have came from the area... Good luck.. WK
