SOLD -- 1st edition -- The Hunter's Handbook by Craig Boddington

Yup, about 60 years worth of collecting. And if someone is really thinking about what has happened in the past, they would be jumping to preserve some of these offerings. Think '57 T-Birds, art works and such. The perfect examples are the McManus books I'm selling; Pat is no longer around to sign his classic books! So the value will only increase over the years. BTW, I also have oodles of old Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Gray's Sporting Journal, AZ Hunter & Angler and other magazines filling various crates and file drawers. E-books are definitely coming along. My wife has been reading her "chick" novels with a Kindle since my daughter gave it to her several years ago. Me, not so much. I still enjoy holding a pulpy book when lying in bed or sitting on the john. 😉

  8. This copy of Winchester: An American Legend: The Official History of Winchester Firearms and Ammunition from 1849 to the Present by R.L. Wilson is in excellent to fine condition, i.e. never read,, but it does have the remnants of a small price tag on the dust jacket. The 404-page hardcover, published by Random House in 1991 on Winchester's 125th anniversary, contains over 300 beautiful color photos and 165 in b/w in an 8.5"x11" horizontal format. Original retail was $65.00, and here are some used ones on Amazon for comparison. Take note of condtions. Winchester: An American-Legend I will consider reasonable offers but no trades. Payment via PayPal (buyer doesn't need an acct; just a CC or checking acct.) or cash only. Must be picked up near 67th Ave. & Camelback or shipped at buyer's expense. ($4) SOLD "The most lavish work ever produced on American long arms, this book has been published with the full cooperation of the Winchester Division of the Olin Corporation, as well as Winchester licensee, the U.S. Repeating Arms Company. The book's large format presents many of the firearms in exquisite close-ups, accompanied by substantial details of history, development, and significance. Variations within model groups are given ample attention, and the book's organization gives an unequaled overview of nearly a century and a half of Winchester achievement. A unique, comprehensive table in the appendix gives serial numbers and related production data previously unavailable in any one source."
  9. MEET MR. GRIZZLY - A Saga on the Passing of the Grizzly Bear by Montague Stevens relates the memoirs of a one-armed Englishman who ranched, fought Apaches, and mostly hunted bears with hounds in New Mexico, circa 1882-1900. Educated at Cambridge, Stevens was one of the most literate chroniclers of New Mexico's rural history. A great old west memoir, and a superb hound and horse training book. His well reasoned comments on natural history, dog training, and the life of an early day cattleman are an invaluable reference. The 6"x9" paperback book, published by High-Lonesome Books in 1987, is 310 pages of great story telling and b&w historic photos. My copy is in excellent, unread condition. I will consider reasonable offers but no trades. Payment via PayPal (buyer doesn't need an acct; just a CC or checking acct.) or cash only. Must be picked up near 67th Ave. & Camelback or shipped at buyer's expense. ($4) SOLD

SOLD -- MEET MR. GRIZZLY by Montague Stevens

Some good tales, for sure. I had read a library copy of Meet the Mr. Grizzly before I bought the book, and then it just sat there like a shelf queen.

SOLD -- 1st edition -- The Hunter's Handbook by Craig Boddington

I probably have only a few signed books left to list. Now, there's a 10' long wall behind one of the desks in my office that is all book case from floor to ceiling. The shelves are literally overflowing. Do you really want to know how much everything will cost you? 🤣 In reality, I didn't have any idea of how much money might be sitting there until I started selling them. It's a lucrative business. 😉

    HO-Scale MODEL TRAINS ANYONE??

Before I waste any time posting FS stuff here, is there anyone interested in HO model trains? I have a few $1000 worth of stuff I have amassed for the last 20 years with hopes of making a massive layout that never even materialized into a mini, mini layout. So most everything is brandy new, including a few old time steam engines (think Durango Rio Grande) and many Campbell kits for various buildings and such. I also have a bunch of Campbell kits that I've already built.

  25. This UNREAD, hardcover autographed copy of BUCKS I HAVE TAKEN (And Bucks That Got Away) was signed and given to me by Jay Gates in 1988. Lots of big buck photos. I will include the personal letter on his letterhead to me when Jay sent the book. I believe he's at least in his 70s now and lives in Chino Valley, AZ. This a a rare book. A new one like mine is listed on Amazon at more than $900! Deer Hunting Legend: Jay Gates I will consider reasonable offers but no trades. Payment via PayPal (buyer doesn't need an acct; just a CC or checking acct.) or cash only. Must be picked up near 67th Ave. & Camelback or shipped at buyer's expense. $150 SOLD The signature says. "Tony-- To the best outdoor writer in Arizona (and one of the best anywhere), Hope you have many successful deer seasons -Jay Gates" Jay Gates was raised in the hunting lifestyle in Kingman, Arizona. By 1979, he’d taken his first deer slam (four species of deer—mule, blacktail, whitetail, coues—in one season), and then did it four more times. Once Sitkas were added to the slam, Jay took all five species for his fifth slam, something only a few hunters had done at the time. Jay is an official scorer for P&Y and B&C, and had been covered in all the main hunting mags of the day. He also spoke at all the major sportsman’s groups and conventions. The forward of the book was written by none other than Craig Boddington, a testament to Jay’s popularity of the day. While the book covers all species of North American deer, any mule deer hunter would be wise to read it. Jay had killed over 130 deer (50 of those were mule deer) by press time.
