How's about a Stevens 58??? Springfield 951???

I also thought Mossberg, Savage or Stevens at first, but the shape of the bolt handle has me stumped.

Aah yes, the Trailrider and only lever-action ever made by Remington.

I forgot the green stock. They weren't too popular, so they had short life compared to the others. I bought a brown one in 1960 and used it to shoot rats at a dump in NY state, just across the line from NJ. Usually went thru a brick of LRs on each trip. I also had a Marlin Glenfield 60, which I liked better than the 66. The latter felt and sounded kinda tinney to me. I traded the 66 for a Ruger MK 1 semi-auto .22 pistol.

Cimarron is merely an importer/distributor, not a maker. Most of its stock is made in Italy. As for Norinco, imports into the U.S. were banned years ago. Not sure if that's still the case, tho. Edit: Uberti makes the majority of Cimarron's imports.

A few years ago, I regularly wrote articles for the National Shooting Sports Foundation website and print magazine. One of them was on the popularity of cowboy action shooting. I did a couple phone interviews, and attended a shoot at Ben Avery. The 97 was and probably still is a very popular gun for these shoots. I think someone is or was actually making reproductions of the 97.

😂 Kinda like a nail gun, huh? I saw one 93 that been blown apart with use of a heavy smokeless load. Fortunately, the guy didn't get hurt.

A Browning design. I can't recall if it was the 97 or 93, but when I worked at the Jewel Box we had a couple come through with a safety issue, ala like firing when the slide is racked forward? Do you know of such?

It was killed in Yellowstone, Wyoming, according to one photo caption. Thus, it would be a Rocky Mt. elk, same as here.

Custer supposedly used the same rifle to shoot this bear, but there was abit of controversy involved. This is a good article about that hunt: Who Shot Custer's Bear? What happened on the Kaibab is irrelevant to THIS incident. And for THIS incident, the "tricky" part of the rule is also irrelevant. The sign clearly states, "NO CAMPING." Now that might be a problem for Stevie Wonder or Helen Keller, but it shouldn't be for someone who can read English and "interpret" those two simple words.

Oh I agree the law, as written, might be a bit vague. But as I said, it doesn't matter in this particular incident; no vagueness to the sign.

I've got a couple of personal tales of encounters of the close kind, but I fell and badly messed up my right hand. As a result, I can only type with my left hand a finger at a time. Maybe manana.

And OBVIOUSLY it removes the need for interpretation. 🙄
