I think it was at least 20 years ago. If you ever see him again, ask him about it.

Duwane rolled his on a sidehill and the ATV somehow rolled over him, crushing his face/head.

Eleven alumni of my high school perished at the WTC that day. There's a special monument at the school dedicated to their memory.

ATVs have caused a few serious accidents. It's been quite a while since my co-author of HOW TO HUNT COUES DEER, Duwane Adams, told me the tale of his accident that nearly killed him. From what he told me, it sounded like his face was about like Bill the Roofer's after his encounter with a forklift. If I recall, Duwane was in the backcountry and needed to be airlifted out by a chopper.

Was this the one....

That's probably not all she had.

Outdoor Writer - Best Wishes with Medical

Sorry to hear that. I agree about knowing too many people, etc. My best friend of 40+ years who lives in MD was just diagnosed and treated for bladder cancer. He'll know next month if the treatment was successful. Ironically, I thought lung cancer could be my downfall at some point, but now it appears something elsewhere is greatly amiss. I have a tele-conference with my primary scheduled for Mon, afternoon, and I'll likely be told to proceed to ER post haste. But after spending a month straight in the hospital and a rehab facility in March, I'm not excited about another visit. 😡 -

Yup, aware of that. I mentioned the "tap" in my earlier message. The diuretics do help with feet and ankles, though. -

All good thoughts. And I somewhat agree. 👍 My worst fear is covid for me would be like an immediate death sentence. I have really bad COPD that has been exacerbated with additional lung scaring from Mycobacterium avium complex and most recently pneumonia, all due to an immune system compromised by long-standing prednisone use. As a result, I'm already on oxygen 24/7. That said, I know I'm going to have to give in. It's just a matter of when. -

This is a snippet I posted elsewhere about my current situation... "Problem right now with me is I should be in the hospital. I have a bad case of edema, where about everything in my body is retaining water even though I'm using a diuretic. I look sort of pregnant now because my abdomen is filled with water as well and likely needs to be drained with a tap. From my research in recent days, it appears the water in my gut is the result of more serious underlying issues. But...I'm resisting a visit to the ER, knowing they will admit me and my odds of getting C-19 rise a bunch. If I get it, I'm dead man walking." 😠 To add...the water in my abdomen, named ascites, is often caused by congestive heart failure or a problem such as cirrhosis of the liver (not likely) or cancer of an organ. etc. I underwent surgery two years ago for colon cancer and was diagnosed cancer-free at that time. So until I give in and go to the ER, it's all just a guessing game right now. It's a real pain not being able to do the simplest of chores, though. 🤬 So there you have it. In the meantime, I'll just keep at... -

Hey guys, I appreciate all the well wishes. I'm having some problems, but as Mark Twain once said, "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." 🤣 It's just tough to get old. I just wish it had taken longer.- 50 replies

I also have had the same TV for a bunch of years, and I seem to recall it cost me close to $2000 when I got it. The picture is superb.

Outdoor Writer posted a topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
GAME AND FISH NEWS Sept. 8, 2020 Applications now being accepted for 2021 spring hunts Deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) Tuesday, Oct. 13 PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) is accepting applications for permit-tags issued through the draw process for 2021 spring turkey, javelina, bison and bear hunts, and raptor capture. To apply, visit www.azgfd.gov and click on “Apply for a Draw.” For an overview of the application service, including license requirements, applying for bonus points and payment information, see Page 8 of the “2021 Spring Turkey, Javelina, Bison, Bear and Rapture Capture Hunt Draw Information” booklet. The booklet is posted online at www.azgfd.gov/hunting/draw. Printed booklets soon will be available at license dealers statewide. The deadline for the department to receive all applications is 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020. Applicants must possess a valid Arizona hunting license to apply for a hunt permit-tag. That license must be valid on the last day of the application period (Oct. 13). A tip: Know your Department ID. This is a must to submit an application. There are three ways to locate a Department ID: Log into your AZGFD portal account, and click on “View Details” under “My AZGFD Dashboard;” check your hunting or combination hunt and fish license if it was purchased online; or call AZGFD at (602) 942-3000 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All applicants are encouraged to purchase PointGuard, which allows hunters to surrender their hunt permit-tag(s) for any reason without losing their bonus points. Information: www.azgfd.gov/pointguard.
