How do I take my rifle to Alberta Canada?
Outdoor Writer replied to Big Browns's topic in The Campfire
Easy, peasey. Just fill out the form below (Do NOT sign it!) and have it ready to give to the agent at the station when you cross the border if you're driving. They might want to examine the firearms. You will then sign it in front of the agent and pay the fee. If I recall, it's about $25-30. http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/wam/media/2347/original/d369a605ac3363b569af5ea5dc40c88d.pdf You also need to get a Form 4457, which is for US Customs when you return to the states. Just take your gun(s) to a US custom's office where they will check them and sign off on the form for you. You should also list any other expensive items you're taking into Canada with you. I used the one at Sky Harbor. Not sure if there are any others in the Valley. And save the #4477; it doesn't expire, so it's reusable. -
Anyone Updated Payment Info?
Outdoor Writer replied to GreyGhost85's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
My first try produced an error message about using only numbers or some such thing. Do a cut & paste from your receipt if you have it and make sure there's no other space at the beginning or end, which was my problem. -

If you had one brand choice for AZ camo set ( pants+ shirt) which would you pick?

LOL. You're confused. That's a road WARRIOR, not a road HUNTER. -

That one is easy; crushed Coors cans, old chew cans and crumpled Big Mac wrappers sewn on an oil-stained hoodie -- kinda like a ghillie suit effect. -
In my case, I have several cards and basically use only one for everything we charge because it's got a really, really low interest rate for balances and pays 5% back on certain purchases that change per quarter. The one I use for apps has no balance, and when it does, I pay it off.

Exactly what I have been doing for years. Plus, the application fees keep the bank happy enough so they don't cancel the account for non-use.

I also attempted to design a pattern for the salt users, but it turned out looking like snow camo. 😎 -

Michigan, as well. About 25 years ago when I was into bowhunting, a major manufacturer invited me on a deer hunt near Rogers City, which is on the northeast tip of the lower peninsular, right on Lake Huron. As I normally do because I hate all the strings attached to flying and also wanted to visit a couple friends, I drove. I spent a night with a friend in Ann Arbor and headed north early the next morning while it was still dark. As it got light, I started seeing all these big signs along the highway; they were selling sugar beets and ears of corn. I bet I passed at least 100 of these before I got to RC. Of course, since I'm not a fan of hunting over bait, I did a lot of chuckling at the creativity of some of the signs. One said, "Deer hunters -- beets by the truckload -- you load," others sold bags full of corn. Little did I know what was in store. We stayed at a resort right on the lakeshore. The first thing I noticed was the size of the "surf." Many of the waves were higher than those in the ocean at Mazatlán. There were six of us hunting, so we split into two groups and were transported to two different spots a few miles away. The parcel I was on couldn't have been more than 25 acres. It had several blinds on it. I was put into an elevated RIFLE blind overlooking an automatic corn feeder! In order to shoot out the window so my upper limb didn't hit the ceiling or upper window frame, I had to slouch down and stand back. And then I also had to worry about the arrow hitting the window ledge. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to stay put in it, lest I disturb my two hunting partners by wandering around. I was chuckling at all the signs, but now I was laughing hysterically when the feeder went off at 7 a.m. It was like a dinner bell to every critter big and small on that parcel of land. I have a 35mm slide that has two does, two fawns, a racoon, two turkeys and several BLACK squirrels -- all pigging out on corn for breakfast. The same thing occurred that evening with a possum joining the crowd. One day, I decided to test how they would all react to cigarette smoke when the breeze would take it from the blind to the feeder. Took a few big puffs and blew it out the window. Not one critter picked its head up. It went that way for two days. Finally on the 3rd day, a small buck joined the meal. I did my contortionist act and promptly shot high over its back, as the tip of the arrow put a slice in the window ledge. The arrow winged off into the woods, and while I was looking for it, I got to see a Michigan variety massasauga rattlesnake. It was about 14-16 in. long. -

I'm going a bit nutso today. Yesterday afternoon, my 2-yr. old HP desktop started this loud buzzing noise (not a humming sound). It sounds like an old alarm clock. My wife could hear it in her TV room, and my office door is a long way from there. Yet it's running just fine otherwise. So I tried to find the cause. First, I shut down the computer; the buzz continued. Next, I pulled the power cord; the buzz continued. Then I pulled off the side cover and using a pencil eraser, stopped each of the fans while the machine was running; the buzz continued. Now it was time to isolate some of the hardware by disconnecting wires. I started by turning off the desktop and unplugging the main power supply to the mother board; the buzz continued. I followed by disconnecting the HD, CD drive and card reader; the buzz continued. After a few hours of messing with it, I turned it off late yesterday afternoon and unplugged everything connected to the case; the buzz continued. When I came out to my office this morning, I could hear the buzz was still going as soon as I hit the kitchen for my coffee. And my hearing is so bad that I have two hearing aids, which I didn't even have on. This morning I decided to try a couple other things. Since the buzz continues even when there's no AC power, I thought the battery might be providing the power to keep it buzzing. I pulled the battery; the buzz continued. Then I removed the four screws holding the power supply in place and pulled it out far enough to figure out it wasn't doing the buzzing. Now I'm completely stumped, especially about how it goes on without any AC or DC power. The only thing I can't check easily is the CPU and the rest of the other motherboard parts. Any computer experts have a suggestion other than take it to a computer tech?
-
I guess. I still can't understand WHAT was actually buzzing and how that could happen with NO power and no speaker, though.
-
Bingo! But only when the answering machine was on. It was only 8 inches away, but even when I had moved the computer with nothing attached yesterday and where it was nearly 20 ft. away, the buzz still was there. Beats the heck outta me, that's fer shure. Only thing I can think of that might have picked up the answering machine is the integrated wireless on the motherboard.
-
Your suggestion here was spot on about going out to the car. If I had carried it a lot farther than the other side of my office, it probably would have stopped the buzz being caused by the answering machine. See my other message about solving the issue.

HOORAY -- Peace and quiet again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally solved the buzzing mystery. Yet even though I did, I can't imagine why it started like it did. I was making a phone call this a.m. on a phone that is right next to the computer. Every time I pushed a number, it would interrupt the buzz for a split sec. The phone has an antenna for companion handsets, which I don't have. Now, if you guess that was the problem, you'd be wrong.🤣I unplugged the phone's power supply and the phone cord from the wall. It didn't do anything for the buzz, however. Although it wasn't that dirty inside, I then decided to disconnect everything from the computer, bring it to my workshop and blow it out using a compressed air canister. As I was disconnecting the cables, I noticed an old tape answering machine that was behind it and tucked in a cubby hole had somehow got turned on. I turned it off, and the buzzing ceased immediately. To confirm it was the culprit, I turned it on again. Sure enough, buzz started. The answering machine is now in the trash. So there you have it folks; one mystery solved. But...another one is how and why did that answering machine get turned on two days ago because I sure didn't do it. In fact, I was actually typing when the buzz began. And the last one is what in the computer was buzzing because of the answering machine and why.
