  1. I have really been wanting to get into reloading for a long time now. I don't know too many people that do it themselves so I can't get many tips there so I thought I'd ask you guys. I am hesitant on the startup costs of it first of all. I see the prices at bass pro and other places and that's a little discouraging. Is there any types or brands that are better than the others? Does it even matter? I'd be happy with something simple if it does the job? So what all is needed really? Where can I go to get the best how to tips? I know there is videos on YouTube that I have seen and I'm a quick leaner and I know I would love the hobby. Any one on here have any extra equipment they would sell me? I will be reloading for a .270, .223 and 7mm/08 right now. Hopefully will get into something in the 6.5 caliber with more experience. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Want to get into reloading

Great advice everyone. Appreciate all the comments made! I'm still looking to find a press for a decent price. I may already be addicted to it because I have been non stop researching, reading and watching reviews and tips and tricks of the trade. I'm very intrigued by it all. Looking to get started with it all for as low of a cost as I can find. In regards to powder selection. What makes you decide what powder you want to use? Is it possible to get a powder that works for a couple calibers? I want to shoot what my gun will like as well as get most velocity I can while maintaining the sweet spot. Does the different powder types would influence this? Case trimming question. What trimmer have you found to work most efficiently in regards to consistency, speed and minimal manual stress? I'm no high volume reloader and probly won't be for a while but want to think in the long run for these purchases.

    3C?

Best map to see unit boundaries as well as private vs public land is www.azaccessmap.com. So great that they put this map out there to clear up a lot of questions. You will see the border being the fence line and not the rim road as bonecollector mentioned. As far as that burn south of overgaard there is plenty of camping spots because its all open from them clearing burnt trees in that area. I would suggest to get into the unburnt trees though because it will provide some shade and cover as well as put you closer to some elk.

    Want to get into reloading

Thanks for the offers and info everyone. I have been looking into reloading and what I need to start. I see several kits out there. And I see some have suggested to get additional items beyond that. I would really like to take advantage of items that save time and also increase accuracy and precision in reloading. I really didn't know exactly how extensive the process was or could be until I started looking into it. Then you add different brands and variations of the tools it's even more broad and difficult to narrow down what would be best to get. So a couple questions that I'd like to hear what your responses would be. 1. What would be the bare necessities to be a successful reloader? Also any specific types of tools or brands? Also best value for that matter if you wanted to add. 2. What would be the extra goodies to get to help save time and increase precision and increase accuracy from load to load? Types of tools and brands if you want to add I appreciate any and all input.

    Looking for a 308

Look into a marlin xs7 in 308. You can pick one up in sportsmans for a good price or gunbroker for around $300. Great guns for the money. Especially for a first timer he will be happy with it.
  19. I just picked up a Savage 116 .270 and just got a new laminate thumb hole stock for it. I am loving it!! But I am seriously wanting to get it glass bedded. I am hoping some of you can help me find someone that can do a quality job for me without hurting my wallet. Anyone on here or any good quality gunsmiths in the mesa/phoenix area that can do this? Thanks in advance!

    need info on leftover tags

Looking to pick up a left over tag. Not much info on the process on the azgfd website so I'm guessing it's similar to draw process? Do we fill out the same paper application as we do for the draw? Do we fill out hunt choices the same or is there just one choice? Is the fee for it the 42.25 which includes the app fee? Anyone can clear this up for me that would be great!
  21. Just finished spending a few hours at Gila Outdoor. Loved every minute of it! I even picked up a great deal on some boots on clearance I've been needing. Good to see CouesWhitetail.com represented right as you walk in the door. Good to finally meet and talk with you Amanda! Thanks for the stickers! If any of you can still make it down there then go enjoy it.
  22. Is there an agenda for the event? The drawings and announcing the score? I understand being there to enter your guess and to buy raffles but do you need to be present to receive the prize if you are so lucky? Pretty excited for this event. Truly impressive store!
