Hey! what is this white stuff?

I have A/T tires and have never needed chains. I do carry a shovel, tow straps, a come a long, and an old piece of carpet. The carpet is nice if you have to change a tire or do any repairs. It keeps you out of the snow and mud.

Hey! what is this white stuff?

Last year was very cold and snowy in 8 and 7w. I am happy we are going to have another one! Elk don't mind this weather one bit and it keeps a lot of hunters in camp or at the bar in town.

Suggestions on finding a new camp in the dark

We use glow sticks. Pop the capsules then cut the top off and dump the liquid out at all the places you need to turn. Doesn't last forever and nothing you have to go clean up later.

    Unit 8 Late Rifle Hunt

Yeah the time it was intentional and worked, was after a missed shot on a muzzy cow hunt. The only other time was on a bear hunt I was using calf distress and had a couple cows come in. On the early archery bull hunts I have called in plenty of cows while trying to get the bulls to come in, but that was just regular cow calls, not calf distress.

    Unit 8 Late Rifle Hunt

I did after someone shot and missed. The herd scattered and we were in the middle of them.

    Unit 8 Late Rifle Hunt

That has worked for me once out of about 20 times. When it did it was pretty crazy for a few minutes. They came to fight!

Shooting from one unit into another????

So By this definition, It would be illegal to to glass an animal in a different unit, watch it cross into the correct unit and shoot it?

Shooting from one unit into another????

That doesn't say the hunter has to be in that unit. If the animal he is hunting/pursuing/shooting is in the correct unit, where does it state the hunter has to be? I have never done this, nor do I plan to, but I know it happens and I think it is still a gray area.

Kodiak Flex Bow tent and Mr buddy heater question.

We used the little buddy heater on a late December hunt in an 8x12 tent. One night was -5 and we ran it all night with one window open about 6in. It stayed warm enough to sleep with your bag unzipped. I would also recommend an extra carbon monoxide detector.

I think this is the one you were talking about.

Shooting from one unit into another????

That would never hold up in court. There had to be more to the story.

    Christensen Arms

My buddy just got his CA back after sending it in for many issues. They sent him a new barreled action and its still a huge POS. I wouldn't ever buy a rifle from that company. It still wont't shoot 1 moa.

Shooting from one unit into another????

I know a few people that have done it for elk. Game warden told them they were fine as long as the animal was clearly in the unit the tag was good for.

Beautiful bobcat rug (done by Mark plunket)

Very cool. I shot one in 19a that was 21lbs. By far the biggest I have ever killed. I am still trying to decide on a rug or lifesize mount.

That's a great looking rug. What did that cat weigh?

    Loren McReynolds Goes Down

I have seen him around Williams the last couple of years on the late hunt. First time I saw him I knew he looked familiar but I couldn't place him. Then I read his shirt. It was his guide service shirt with his name on it. That was the 2017 season and he had clearly been out helping/hunting. Not really sure what unit.

    Christensen Ridgeline reviews?

I would buy the xbolt and never look back. I did a lot of reading on some forums awhile back trying to help a friend pick a new rifle. I saw more bad reviews on the CA than many other guns priced much less. He ended up with a CA and it had to go back for multiple issues. I have setup 6 xbolts now, and every one has worked and shot very well. I would spend the extra money on optics and ammo. Good luck!

first whitetail hunt in unit 8

The smoke shouldn't be an issue by then. We are on the west side and don't even see it here.

first whitetail hunt in unit 8

Just a heads up to anyone with this hunt. The fire is causing lots of smoke on the east side of the unit. Good luck!
