A couple weeks back my sister and her family came over for a bbq. A few days later my wife got sick, then 1 by 1 we all got really sick. All the symptoms seemed to line up, but none of us were bad enough to get tested. Im on day 10 and just now starting to feel better. For us it was just like a bad cold that lasted a long time. My bil got tested, they told him it was too late to be conclusive, but they think he had it. I am not allowed back at work until I have been symptom free for 14 days. The worst part for us is trying to explain to our 5yo why he can't go to school or see his friends. The school here is really cool though. Every day his teacher and friends post videos online to communicate. The perks of living in the woods. If it wasnt for all the media bs... I would have taken a few sick days and life would be normal.

Sadly if the parents don't care, they don't care. I doubt this long summer break changes anything.

Lots of the recreation areas are closed, but you can still fish the lakes.

https://www.reedssports.com/catalog/product/view/id/257818/s/thompson-center-compass-rifle-7mm-rem-22in-blued-10076-090161447912/category/26/ Bought one of these for my dad. We shopped around and after the rebate it was only $224 and included a vortex scope. If you shop around you might find a better deal. It shoots 180gr bergers really well and 160gr accubonds under an inch.

Toppled a couple more fawn killers
thegunsmith2506 replied to nlacost's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
At the time I didn't have a kid and I worked 4-10's. I pretty much spent every fri and sometimes the whole weekend out calling. I could drive my quad right from the house and go call. Back then I had an fx3 now I have a firestorm. The numbers aren't insane, the amount of time I put into calling was. -
Toppled a couple more fawn killers

Thats interesting. I only use a shotgun and my kill ratio tripled when I got a foxpro. Maybe I just suck at calling. I kept a log book for 5 years and recorded every stand. Do you weigh your kills? My biggest coyotes were 48lbs and 47lbs I killed them on back to back stands down by Sunazona. My average was about 25lb. Now that I live up north I don't call near as much. I use to average about 25 foxes and 40 or more coyotes a year. Now I am luck to kill a couple. -
Belgian commercial Mauser action $260 Tucson
thegunsmith2506 replied to DirtyHarry's topic in Classified Ads
These are solid actions. I bought one in a pawn shop in tucson almost 20 years ago. Picked it up for $40 because it was missing the floor plate. Its one of my best shooting guns. -

Its a pretty good youth gun and the ammo shoots really well out of this gun. -
You can buy them at Cal-Ranch and I think Sportmans has them too.

https://paddling.com/paddle/trips/verde-river-az-thru-paddle-2/ You have probably seen it, but this was a pretty good read. We plan to do the whole river, but we are doing it in sections
-
Have you done the verde before? We cancelled our trip last year due to all the water. This year we are doing the headwaters to Camp Verde in late April.

If it's that simple, how many have you called and killed? Any pics?

We live west of Flagstaff about 20 miles. Our coop is an old gutted aluminum trailer with a 20x30 run attached. I covered the top of the run to keep the critters out. Temps get down to as low as -9 and we have never heated the coop. We have 15 hens of several different breeds and one rooster. We do run a heated water bucket, but that is all we do. In 4 years we have never lost a chicken. They do slow down with laying during the shorter days of winter, but even right now with temps in the teens at night, we are getting 8-10 eggs a day. We started with a cheap coop from Tractor Supply and 6 hens but realized right away it was too small. Good luck finding a coop!

Tell us about your elk rifle, and cartridge?
thegunsmith2506 replied to Stray Horse's topic in Elk Hunting
Not like I had hoped. The bullet blew up on the shoulder blade on a close shot. With the big .338's we have had the best luck with barns so I guess I will go to the 270gr barnes for my next hunt. -
