Shooting from one unit into another????
thegunsmith2506 replied to PowellSixO's topic in The Campfire
That doesn't say the hunter has to be in that unit. If the animal he is hunting/pursuing/shooting is in the correct unit, where does it state the hunter has to be? I have never done this, nor do I plan to, but I know it happens and I think it is still a gray area. -
Kodiak Flex Bow tent and Mr buddy heater question.
thegunsmith2506 replied to AZHUNTER05's topic in The Campfire
We used the little buddy heater on a late December hunt in an 8x12 tent. One night was -5 and we ran it all night with one window open about 6in. It stayed warm enough to sleep with your bag unzipped. I would also recommend an extra carbon monoxide detector. -

I think this is the one you were talking about. -

That would never hold up in court. There had to be more to the story. -
My buddy just got his CA back after sending it in for many issues. They sent him a new barreled action and its still a huge POS. I wouldn't ever buy a rifle from that company. It still wont't shoot 1 moa.

I know a few people that have done it for elk. Game warden told them they were fine as long as the animal was clearly in the unit the tag was good for. -
Beautiful bobcat rug (done by Mark plunket)

Very cool. I shot one in 19a that was 21lbs. By far the biggest I have ever killed. I am still trying to decide on a rug or lifesize mount. -

That's a great looking rug. What did that cat weigh? -
That's a lot of turkey fans!

I have seen him around Williams the last couple of years on the late hunt. First time I saw him I knew he looked familiar but I couldn't place him. Then I read his shirt. It was his guide service shirt with his name on it. That was the 2017 season and he had clearly been out helping/hunting. Not really sure what unit.

Christensen Ridgeline reviews?
thegunsmith2506 replied to jdown's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I would buy the xbolt and never look back. I did a lot of reading on some forums awhile back trying to help a friend pick a new rifle. I saw more bad reviews on the CA than many other guns priced much less. He ended up with a CA and it had to go back for multiple issues. I have setup 6 xbolts now, and every one has worked and shot very well. I would spend the extra money on optics and ammo. Good luck! -
first whitetail hunt in unit 8
thegunsmith2506 replied to Antpv93's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
The smoke shouldn't be an issue by then. We are on the west side and don't even see it here. -

thegunsmith2506 replied to Antpv93's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Just a heads up to anyone with this hunt. The fire is causing lots of smoke on the east side of the unit. Good luck! -
The Cashbox in Tucson use to be great. I haven't been in a few years, but I use to always find a good deal. Several years back I bought a S&W 15-3 out the door for $100

This drives me nuts. Hope you find what you need.

Most recommended economical binos for glassing?
thegunsmith2506 replied to 0uTkAsT's topic in Optics and tripods
If it was me, I would spend money on a good tripod and head. I really don't see much of a difference in binos in the $150-$500 range. I would look through as many as you can and pick the ones you like the best. Then start saving for high end optics if that is what you want. I killed a plenty of deer with a pair of $100 nikon binos on a good tripod. I wasted hundreds of dollars "upgrading" with mid grade optics. I wish I would have been patient and just saved until I got what I really wanted. -
And were off to a rough start... 2019 Bison and Youth elk hunts

That is sound advice -
Its slowing down, but I am sure you will hear a few.

Stuffed mine in a flat rate box. Then I got rid of it. Just like vortex, great warranty, too many issues.

Another vote for Ventana Canyon. My wife loves that place. Get a balcony with a view of the mountains and it is almost tolerable.

Waterfowlers
thegunsmith2506 replied to BusterAZ's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
We had a good day considering we are not real duck hunters. We got 9 ducks and 2 geese. Took a lot of walking and a lot of paddling the canoe, but it was fun how did everyone else do? -
That's awesome! Congrats Strad! You guys have had some tough hunts. Glad to see you have good success this rear. Hope you have a big freezer.

They were going great during the hunt.

They are really going crazy in 8 and 7w right now.
