I also tried IMR 4320. All with 200g bullets. The 4350 was just better in my rifle. The Ruger #1 is a strange beast that takes some tuning for barrel harmonics till it settles in. You didn't say, but I'm guessing your's is a bolt action, prob M70, with a 24in bbl.

Yes, that cartridge wants a heavier bullet. Better to think of it as a super 30-06 rather than a 300 Win Mag. That is, you're shooting a 200g bullet at the same velocity the 30-06 puts out a 165g. I get 2800fps chronographed in a Ruger #1, 26in barrel, IMR 4350, Nosler Accubonds, Nosler brass. Not a max load. Max load in mine opened up the primer pockets.

This is me. I DIY my deer hunts, I know the country and the logistics are basic. I hire for elk, I don't live up north, a well fitted out 7 day camp can be big logistics, and I get two weeks off a year. I trade money for precious time. OBTW still only 50 percent success, but a good hunt with good company every year. It's still "hunting" not "shooting".

They did my bear in 2012, we inhaled it. Italian sausage.

Hunting with less than traditional rifles/firearms

Took my bear in 2012 with a Winchester 1894, manufactured 1906, in 38-55. Tang sight. -

From the back yard in N Scottsdale. I am going with Chupacabra.

Thanks, we're just outside Cave Creek actually, semi-rural. We built a water feature as a running stream as part of fixing the drainage in the back, specifically wanted to draw in wildlife. My wife swears to God she has seen a lion in the back, and they have been around here, so I'm really hoping for that 1 picture in 1000.

If it's a bobcat, and I agree that's what I really think too, then here's our fellow in daylight.

Only ever fired one shot, at one bear, in my life. But it worked. M1894 Winchester 38-55.

After the "it's all about me bit". He has the right to speak publicly, I have the right to not listen. Irish out.

So you couldn't even wait for the parents to bury their dead babies before whipping out the tinfoil hat conspiracy post? It was that important?

Hound hunt, taken Friday morning in 23 N, used an antique (106 year old) Winchester M1894 in 38-55. More than enough gun.

Mine had a small white patch on his chest, doesn't show in my pictures unfortunately. All black otherwise, and a basketball head. AZGFD aged him at 5-7 years old.

Was asked to add another photo - do you know this Bear? And behind me is Bryant "Opie" Ogle of Double O Guides who put this all together for me.
