I'm interested in the Winchester 30-30. Could you give me the serial number?
  2. Toby was primed and ready to go on his first Arizona youth deer hunt. After finding out the draw he practiced with his 7mm-08 and reloaded some great rounds (under supervision of course) before the hunt. As the season got closer he finally decided to hunt Coues deer instead of Mulies. Good choice son!. Opening day found us deep in the woods with his mom, myself, and good friend Duffy. We saw a couple of bucks early on and Toby later passed on a small fork horn. The fork horn took quite a bit of convincing but in the end Toby was glad he did. Later that day I spotted a buck moving into a small thicket. After hours of manuevering and glassing we were all but sure the buck had snuck out of the thicket. I finally could not take it and walked accross the draw and into the thicket. You guessed it MR. Coues ran out the other side. MY BAD! Needless to say my decision to walk through the thicket was not a popular one. We hunted the rest of the afternoon with no luck. That evening We talked and Toby agreed we needed to go back. Did I mention he had an elk hunt in New Mexico going on at the same time. That elk tag was burning a whole in his pack. Next morning his mom, myself and older brother Kade (Duffy went looking for elk for Toby) were walking into the same area well before daylight. About 0900 I spotted Mr Coues bedded in front of a big Cedar. We put a great sneak on him and layed up at 230 yards. It was as close we could get. After waiting for two hours he finally stood. As cool as a sniper Toby asks us if we are ready. OF COURSE!! The shot rings out and Toby's first Arizona Coues is down. As we packed up our gear we watch as another buck we had not seen stands up. HE IS HUGE!!!!!! After five minutes of videoing the "BIG" buck he finally walks off. We could not be prouder of Toby's accomplshment with his first Coues. At 104 gross this is a buck anyone could be proud of. Great Hunt Toby,I can't wait to go after the big one with you next year!!!

    Long Range Rifle pics

Lets here some specs on these rifles, especially overall weight! I am just starting to build mine and will post as I go. Starting out with Remington model 700 action 7mm mag. I bought a Jewel trigger and have a Shilen barrerl on order. My goal is to make a long range shooter that is still a reasonable weight. I have not fullly decided on a stock yet but it will either be a HS precision or a Mcmillian. I also plan to coat the metal with a cool looking coating, undecided on that as of now. Feel free to throw out your opinion on this project. And let see some more custom builds. Rharris

  7. Hi everyone, I just received some awesome news. I entered a contest some time back for the most Extreme Huntress. I recently learned I made it to the top 10. Now it is up to public voting through the end of the year. So am asking all of you to go out, visit this link, https://www.tahoefilms.com/poll.php and read the stories and vote. I am one of the very few blue collared DIY hunters, just like you, that made the cut. It's not every day that an everyday Joe, or should I say Jill, has an opportunity like this. So I am asking for your support and to please pass this on to anyone else you can think of. Thanks! Marcy Harris

    ANYONE GOING ORYX HUNTING???

Well How did the hunts go? My wife Marcy has the Stallion Range in Febuary. I drew my Oryx tag back when 9/11 happened. They shut the range down and later opened it up to those that drew for a one day hunt, take it or leave it. Long story short I shot an average cow on a very short hunt. Any tips on the Stallion Range would be appreciated RHarris

  13. What an awesome hunt with my husband and my son! We saw so many deer and passed on several bucks. When we saw this one, we really didn't know how big he was, but we knew he was a shooter. We bumped him on day one and could only locate his buddy that was with him, so we decided to back out that evening. We knew he would be in the same area the next morning, so we went right back in where we had seen him and started glassing. We went in slowly, glassing as we went, and ended up on the same ridge we were the night before. We quickly found the buddy that had been with him, but still could not locate the shooter. We even spotted a small forked horn bedded nearby. The buddy (a small 3x3) was bedded in a spot that soon would have sun on it, so we planned to wait for him to get up and move. We were hoping this would instigate the big buck to get up and move as well, as we still could not see him. After about an hour of watching them, suddenly, the shooter stood up. We were still 400 yards away. I shot and did not make a lethal shot, but he was now anchored. My shot was a little bit to the right. We snuck closer and had to try several different angles to get another shot on him, as he was bedded under brush at a challenging angle. Finally, we found a spot at 257 yards and I rolled him in his bed. We have green scored him already. What's your guess? I am also up for Extreme Huntress for 2009. If you haven't voted and would like to support me, please visit www.tahoefilms.com and click vote now in the Extreme Huntress Contest. It only takes a minute. I am still way behind on votes and I am one of the very few blue collared hunters, just like you, that made the cut. Thanks, Marcy
