Best unit to hunt elk in is the unit you have a tag for. Every unit has potential to produce a few huge bulls. Some produce more big bulls than others year to year but it depends how much you scout work hard and effort you put in to find that big bull. For me this year the best unit happens to be 9 or 10 because I drew a early archery bull tag in one of them. Good luck to the lucky tag holders this year

Is this a record for a thread leingth? Because I think we still got a solid 8 pages of relief/excitement and heart break.

You're definitely living right this year. Might want to go pick up a lottery ticket while you're at it. Congradulations!

I just got hit 2 minutes ago for early archery 9 or 10 bull.... So G&F is still running cards. I'm definitely not in the bonus pass with 5 points. Good luck to all keep your fingers crossed.

+1 why wouldn't they run cards Friday........?

It can't be the 20% max point holders because Workman already posted that he got drawn back to back years.
-
hahah that's probably what happened

I've had 1 archery bull tag in 5bn killed a 330 6x6. Waiting on a unit 9,10,or 1 bull tag. Hopefully to go 2 for 2 on a big one this time.

I heard G&F is canceling the elk and antelope hunts and taking all the money from this draw to relocate some more sheep to the Catalina's. To who ever put In for an elk or antelope tag they are going to give you 1 free complimentary lion tag to try and do your part.

i have 5 dodge 20 inch wheels and tires. 4 of the wheels are the ones pictured and 1 is a full size factory spare with steel wheel. the tires are goodyear wrangler Hp 275x60 R20. the tires are in great shape with two of them being about 80% tread and the other 3 being at 60+%. they still have a ton of miles left on them. they don't have any patches plugs chunks or gouges in them what so ever. for what I'm asking you can't even go buy a set of tires. I've got these posted on CL for $450 I'll sell to CWT member for 400$ These are in tucson on the eastside. Need them gone they are taking up to much room in my storage. Thanks, -Travis

I've got the OX pack. Is a sweet pack for sure. Definitely a work horse and can carry more weight than you want to throw at it. I only have 2 complaints with it. Is almost 9 lbs dry weight and it's doesn't breathe well on your back on early season hunts. Other than that it's extremely comfortable and perfect for those extended stays in the back country. Plenty of room for all your gear plus some and it makes packing out entire animals in one shot a breeze.

Tenton elk hunter. Most comfortable thing on earth.

I thought about selling my swaro 15s to upgrade to the HDs but Im having a hard time trying to justify the extra 800$ for just the slightest clarity and light quality.

I don't think there is a rifle hunt for 33 only archery but I could be wrong I didn't pay that much attention to the spring regs this year.

I saw a bunch of bears in 33 from August-October with a few of them being monsters... Should have a good hunt this up coming spring!

Anyone else eating tag soup??
CWpredator replied to ready2hunt's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Rifle tag soup for me. I had plenty of opportunity to kill multiple bucks but none were the ones I had found scouting or was looking for. Over the first 3 days of the hunt me and my partner had passed on over 20 bucks(had to talk my buddy out of shooting quite a few of them.) Last day of the hunt I passed up a 90" buck that my partner ended up breaking weak on the set goal and ended up shooting later on in the morning. Real cool character buck especially for his first deer. As far as I'm concerned my tag is just stewing right now as I still have December to get it done with the bow. Good luck to all that still have rifle hunts to go! -
I shoot a 300 spine gold tip Kinetic Pro with 100gn 2" Swhackers at 475grains at 304fps. Little smaller diameter shaft than standard 5/16 for better penetration. I've got a pass through on every thing I've shot since going to this setup. There's a ton of great arrows out there just find the one that suits your needs the best!

To me ideal glassing setup is 10s for stalking due to light weight and size. My 15x56 swarovski for glassing and locating. And a spotter for scoring and locating at extreme distance and shot calling at the range or while hunting.

Check out the muzzle break lineup that American Precision Arms offers. They are by far the most effective that I have shot. I have the Fat Ba$tard break on my 338 lapua and it tamed it down to feel like a 6.5 caliber rifle. They offer smaller ones for smaller caliber a but they are all awesome!

WHAT RIFLE WILL YOU BE SHOOTING THIS SEASON?
CWpredator replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Gotta love all the gun porn! .338 Lapua Stiller TAC 338 action, Krieger barrel, Jewell trigger, McMillian A5 stock, Seekens extended box mag, NightForce 5.5-22x56 Hopefully find one to feed the 300grains of strong medicine to. Gun is 18lbs so she's a little rough to carry but if it wears me out the trusty old mountain weight 300WM will make an appearance.
