Home Town Memories Animas New Mexico

Recommended Posts

This happened after my time. Football came to Animas my sophomore year 1976. We were horrible but things changed when Billy Henson took over. My little brother played for Henson. It is true, we traveled to Clayton, NM to watch the championship game one year.

Just a cool tribute to small town football and the dedication of a coach to make the most of what he had.

Funny part of the story.....Lordsburg's 9-8 victory ended Animas's bid to break the all-time national record of 72 consecutive wins by Hudson High of Michigan from 1968 through 1975.

Thanks for sharing…love these stories.

Not a small town, but my kids’ high school in Tucson has only had a team 3 yrs and it’s been a lot of fun watching the program grow.
