Brisket and arm pits

Ok I can’t take it anymore - I’ve got to share a reminder - QUITE CUTTING THROUG THE ARM PITS AND BRISKET ! 
the cut goes down the BACK of the leg , ( or even better yet TUBE THE LEG) but the hair pattern changes and give you a perfect line to follow , down the BACK OF THE LEG , Not the front and not close to the arm pits….. most animals Have very little hair there and a cut or hole is hard to sew without being seen . I Have lots of guys leave me hide clear to the tail but then no arm pits or brisket …. Look at a mount , there is quite a bit of hide from the cowlick ( were the brisket starts ) down the brisket towards the belly  ….. like 6”-10” depending on form and species …… sharing a few pictures of a beautiful coues deer cape , with wrong cuts ….. circle shows brisket gone ….. well it’s actually there but that piece of hide is on the shoulders , if I pull the hide all the way around you can see were they cut straight up the middle of the brisket and front of legs …. When gutting an animal stop when you hit the front of the brisket bone …… The pic with the red lines is were the cuts should be made , down the back of the legs ….. the middle all should be one piece …… do your self and your taxidermist a favor and pay attention to your cuts ….. this is a very very very common mistake on hides coming in …… I won’t get into the faces in this post , but we also need eye lids and lips to make a good mount 🤣

It's very very common because 95% of hunters will never have a mount done. And 95% of them have no clue so things will never change. Nice of you to bring it up. You might want to post a few of your favorite Youtube videos.

But hunters will continue to bring in capes and expect miracles.
