azsugarbear Report post Posted February 20 A good friend of mine has some medical bills that need to paid. He has asked me to help him sell a couple of firearms. All of the firearms I am listing are in my possession and I will be handing off the firearm(s) and standing behind each transaction. My friend needs to raise some cash and feels that this is his best way to do that - otherwise he would not be selling them. Accordingly, no trades can be entertained. ***** Updated 2/21/26 Note: I was not aware at the time this pistol was put up for sale, but after the initial purchase, the owner sent this pistol back to the S&W Custom Shop for a complete trigger job - which included slicking up the timing components as well. That's probably why the trigger felt so light to me. For Sale: The iconic Smith & Wesson Model 686-3 in stainless steel. This pistol was manufactured somewhwere between 1988 - 1993. For those of you not fsmiliar with this revolver: like most 357 Mag revolvers, the cyclinder can also accomadate 38 Special ammo as well. The pistol is all 'original', right down to the wood grips. From my examination, I can tell you it indexes correctly and the cylinder locks up tight - aligning directly with the forcing cone. For its' age, it is in great condition. It shows that the previous owners have tken great care of it. The finish is surprisingly pristine with no scrathes, dents or dings - with the exception of the cylinder itself. It has the faintest engraving/marring that usually occurs when the cylinder is spun and the quickly locked into place by pulling the hammer back. You know what I'm talking about.... the thing we all did as kids because we saw it done in the movies - and it looked cool. The trigger itself is extremely light and I would estimate the pull to be around 1 lb. This 686 package comes with a suede pistol rug, a leather ammo pouch and two holsters. The black leather holster is a western rig made in Mexico (value $125 when new??). The other medium brown holster was made by Bianchi and has the typical thumb release strap (value today for this model is $200). Both holsters could use some oil to bring them back to their full luster. This pistol was hard to value. Looking online, I found prices all over the map, depending largely on the condition and the series of the 686 that was for sale. You will have to do your own research on this one. Asking price: $900 for the revolver, two holsters and the pistol rug. The seller will entertain offers, but they need to be fair. Any questions you have regarding the rifle - please post them in this thred. Any offers can be sent to me via PM. I am located in the N Phx/ Sctsdl area.
