Any Honda Techs? 01 Civic Crank No start or spark

Recommended Posts

Figured Id check.  My kid worked off a car on trade from an older couple and it sat for a good 5 years.  New battery, Drained the tank best I could, filled halfway with high octane, irrelevant now as I know the pump works. She cranked but no spark, or rpm on the tac, on the dash nor on my reader which shows live data.  I even bought a new coil pack on the off chance all 4 coil packs were bad although highly unlikely.  So I got fuel, but no spark across all 4.  So I looked at the crank sensor next.  Correct me if wrong but if you can crank and no rpm reads on tac or reader that points to crank sensor.  So we just replaced the sensor along with timing belt and water pump $$.  Still bupkiss.  I put a multimeter on the crank pigtail, top post 5 volts, center which is ground got a full 12 to the positive and bottom post got 5 volts as well.  So at this point I'm ruling out wiring which I thought could be the case since Rodent activity was evident, although none I could find regarding wiring and I looked close.

So now I'm looking at possible bad (bran new) crank sensor. I've read that Honda is picky about aftermarket but after 25 years I figure a new lifetime warranty $100 sensor probably has the bugs worked out. Daniel and Tim, Rip me right now lol.  Next Im looking at the ECM but its communicating to my cheap handheld code reader, got a new one showing up in a day or two. Xtool A30m, looks sexy based on reviews.  So after the possible crank sensor and unlikely ECM I just learned about the green key light for chip keys with Honda.

When inputting the key I see no green key light, before or while cranking.  I'm not exactly sure if the green key light only shows up if there's an issue?  After attending YT University some more the whole green key thing makes me wonder.

FWIW I'm no mechanic, just try my best to figure stuff out and I'm at a wall here.  I'm going to look a bit into the immobilization system and green light but any help is appreciated.
