Quick Question

Recommended Posts

I am new to the state so I just had a quick question. Do you have to have one of the draw tags in order to hunt during those specificed hunting season times even if you are only hunting with bow? Or is the over the counter archery tag enough.

Over the counter tags are only good for the over the counter seasons and hunts. If you read the regs, it will clearly state when they are open and what units are open. The over the counter tag is not good for a draw tag hunt. You need to be drawn in order to hunt during that specified time in that sepcified unit.

Welcome to the state.

Good luck hunting.

Some of the OTC archery seasons, do overlap certain Draw units and seasons. Another words, you may be hunting with a limited number of rifle hunters that drew the hunt unit and time period that you are eligible to hunt with an OTC bow tag.

As stated by 123456, read the regulations for OTC archery seasons and the corresponding open units.

With the bow you'll have to wait until December 14th for the units down here... Also, on-post there is NO December archery hunt, you'd have to wait until January 1st. That is of course unless you talk to your people and find out if there's any deer out on the airfield that need to be removed... There usually isn't.

the over the counter archery seasons are jan 1 though the 31, second week of august to the 2nd week of september, and then from the 2nd week of december though the 31. Good luck
