3 generation story

It all started when i found out both me and my girlfriend had been drawn for bull elk archery in different units . I made the decision to hunt with her the first week and then go on mine. After months of practice and her always having to out do me in every archery shoot or even back yard shooting we were ready. We went up to 4A and she made a very impressive shot on a good 6x6 on the second day but were unable to recover it as the blood trail just quit. I did not question the shot she took because she is a excellent shot but maybe Im thinking we should have waited longer before searching. We spent 3days looking for her bull and no luck. We came home Tuesday and I left for my hunt on Thursday. My very close friend, my uncle, and my son were going with my and my dad and another uncle were heading up Friday after my dad got out of dialysis. Friday morning came and we went out to find a bull. We heard a couple of bugles and decided to go after them. When my buddy pulled his truck off the road the front end of his truck just sunk in mud. So we had to dig it out and put a million rocks under tires (if u would ask my son). After getting truck out we went for a walk. My buddy was doing some cow calls when i seen a black thing running towards us. it was a huge black bear I yelled bear and my son started to run i told him dont run and my buddy grabed him and both hid behind me. We yelled at the bear and he stopped 15 yards from us and ran the other way. My son was very scared as tears ran down his cheek. I told him its not smart to run from a bear. So that was our morning and the evening wasnt much better as it rain for the most part. Dad showed up in the late afternoon and made some good red chilli meat and beans. In the morning we decided to go to a area we had seen the evening before that looked promising. We arrived there and the bulls were going nuts. My son had fallen asleep on the ride so i wasnt going to wake him. My buddy and uncle both took off we me to chase the bugles. One bulls was really pissed as he would answer as soon as he heard another bugle. I told my buddy he hot and ready . As we were getting closer to his bugle my buddy stayed back cow calling as i made my move. I got glimpse of the bull as he was coming and told myself ok its time. The bull was walking thru the trees and was gona give me a 40 yard shot. He then stopped all of a sudden and stayed looking around for the cows that my buddy was trying to be. He didnt like was he seen and did a about face and walked back were he came from. I hurried behind him and he stopped and turned to look back and thats when i drew and shot . It was a 62 yard shot. He took off breaking limbs and running hard. My buddy and uncle came up and my buddy said u hit him i could tell by just hearing the impact. I told him I dont know where i hit but i am willing to give him all day because i didnt wana go thru losing a bull again. He walked back to truck to tell my dad and other uncle the news and to see if my son had waken to bring him to help us look for bull. He came back and said my son was still sleeping and they were gona wait for him to wake up and then go back and bring trailer with quad. It was the longest 4 hours and we decided to just look a bit to see if we see blood or something. We right away found the back half of my arrow and figured he still had atleast more than half still in him. We followed tracks and no blood and 150 yards later there he lay. After hugs and hand shakes my uncle walked down to a close meadow and said hey there a road here. My buddy said i will walk this road back to main road and hopefully bring quad and truck back. He was gone for a while and finally came back on quad and said i will bring truck right to here. I asked him where evryone was and he said they had just gotten there they had went to restuarant to have breakfast. We started to laugh. He said il be back 10 min later came my son driving the quad and my dad and other uncle in buddys truck. Everything worked out great and it was so awsum to have all them there. I will remember this forever . My dad had me out hunting with him since i was 5 and i am doing the same with my son. Thanks everyone
