What is the going rate for Brown's this year?

Recommended Posts

Nobody horn hunted when gas was $4 per gallon and brown was six bucks for clean brown. Now a brown six point elk antler will pay for your whole trip which results in way too many people in the woods looking for brown gold.

What does a 6-point shed weigh on average?

I don't know if there is an average but the 6 point I just found weighs about 6.5 lbs.

Cool, just wondering how much these sheds weigh because when I see a pic of a shed hunter with a pack full of sheds it looks like it can get heavy! Thanks for the info!

Two horns per trip have been the limit for this geezer for many years now.

......but on a few of the longer more strenuous trips I have had to leave a few horns behind in a stash. As you can guess sometimes others will find them.....and it is always the smallest horns that they leave behind for me to retrieve on a return trip!

Lots of competition for buyers this year. My brother said going rate in NM is $14 per lb with our buyer this season. They drove through Springerville today and saw three buyers sitting out there.

Just past the Apache Gold casino yesterday I stopped to inquire and it was $14 for the browns. He had a few awesome matching sheds on display from the reservation which he would not quote me a price on1
