Quickie Gambels Trip

Recommended Posts

Escaped the snow in Flag for a few hours Sunday by making the 30 minute drive south to Beaver Creek off I-17 east of Sedona. We found one scattered covey in a draw during the few hours we hunted, along with many pig and elk tracks in the sandy soil. We got a male and female from the covey. It was a little breezy, and the birds held well to point. We did not hunt the whole afternoon, but I was satisfied with the short hunt before taking the drive through Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon back up to Flag. Made a mental note to do a photo trip to Sedona and play tourist one morning after some snow.

Sweet! It's been a while since I hunted quail around there. Never used a dog then but was much younger and would run for miles and miles through those hills all day long for a handfull of those birds. Thanks for the pictures Doug!
