Can't wait to hear about Taylor's next epic adventure. Knowing her luck, and my lack of luck, she will draw either an early rifle bull or antelope tag this year....

We are all in at my house. I checked it about noon, and again at 2:30. Then when I got home, it was open!

Posted on Backpage for $1500. CWT members still get the original price.

Is that the same Dave who volunteers for the youth elk camp with the ADA? He knows 23 very well, and I'd be inclined to hire him solely for the fact that he volunteers to help the kids like he does, that's awesome. Dave is also a fireman in his other 8 months of the year, and truly a stand up guy. I do not know him from guiding, just as a hunter.

I have a running spreadsheet of scopes with about 20 different columns of criteria, color coded for pros and cons. Always updating it. Always adding new optics to it. I have my fair share of good glass. I have a few true top tier optics as well. Kahles, S&B, etc. Even my 10/22 has a Zeiss on it! An addiction. -
I am going to post this on Snipershide if it doesn't sell by Friday. I just wanted an AZer to get it. I would prefer a FTF buyer.

Finally starting to see some better bucks checking does in the desert. Getting more stupider too. In the last 2 days at work, saw twins 4x4s at 40 & 70 yards, and a big 3x3 today at 50.

What twist barrel? 1:12 or 14? 50 TTSX or 52 SMK. 1:9 or 10? 62 TTSX, 69 SMK or 70 VLD.

DIY. Just my thing. Although....if I could afford a guide for a primo hunt, I would. If I ever draw an early rifle bull tag, it will be DIY.

I see you are an optics snob....ummm...I mean connoisseur.....welcome to the club! Me too. -
Guess I will bring my 6.5 SLR and .300RUM and see how it goes. Unless it is crazy windy, the 6.5 SLR will probably get the nod.

I have 3 of the Guide jackets. Does this not compare well to them? Or was it the rain that made you decide on a Guide? I had one of my Guide jackets on when we were on the tower.

Dang! You should have told me this last week when we were on the mountain together. I would have brought cash last week.

Good luck with that!!!

Questions on the next setup...what off the shelf platform, various 6.5 options...
lancetkenyon replied to Green Bullet's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
6.5 Creedmoor or .260 Rem Plenty for mid range deer, antelope. Long range javalina, coyote, etc. Short to medium elk too. Little recoil, cheaper to shoot, good factory ammo, great reloading components available. The Savage LRH is a heavy rifle. But a good one. The Tikka T3 Lite is a great choice too. The .243 Win, .243 WSSM or 6mm rem would be decent choices too, if you can find a fast twist barrel. I would want to shoot 100-115gr. bullets in the 6mm bore. Don't discount the quarter bores either. .250 Savage, .25-06, .25 WSSM, .257 Weatherby. Most have a 1:10" twist, enough to stabilize the 115 Bergers, but a 100 TTSX will be zipping and good for smedium range elk too. I love my .25-06 AI. for deer.....and if I could ever draw a stinking speedgoat tag.
