Yeah! -
If they are done, I am all for it. I just need them to post results for us old school paper app guys so we can find out if we drew.

Must resist.......must resist.......

Ahhh...the joys of applying old school style with paper applications and money orders. Only downside is having to wait a little longer to find out if I got drawn, and then a refund check if unsuccessful. (kind of like my private savings account my wife always forgets about) I think waiting to see if the applications were rejected or just unsuccessful would be in order myself. I have heard of a bunch of people getting calls from AZGFD with issues on payments and license # issues. So if you did not get a CC hit, I think they just might be unsuccessful in the draw....I hope.

Tell us about your elk rifle, and cartridge?
lancetkenyon replied to Stray Horse's topic in Elk Hunting
My cousin will be shooting his 7mm RM. I get to start load development on another gun!!! Going to try 168 Berger HVLDs. -
My cousin just called me. The last tag he had was with me in 1999. He got a CC hit today, so no matter what, I will be in the woods this fall helping get an elk.

Are you talking about a .308 or a 30 cal? I have a 30/416 rigby improved that deffinately needs more twist for the 230 and its a 10. Shoots the 210s great tho. Almost any .308" cartridge that would realistically want to shoot a really heavy bullet. .300WM, .300 Weatherby, .300RUM, .30-378, .300 Dakota, Lazzeroni 7.82 Warbird, .30-404 Imp. 40°, etc. Now, your gun may not like the 230 Hybrids, but even at 2800fps, a 1 in 10" twist should stabilize them fine unless you are shooting at very low temps (0°F) and low elevations (sea level), maybe polar bear hunting in the arctic? But just because it SHOULD stabilize, that does not mean your gun will shoot them well. I have had guns that SHOULD shoot a certain bullet fine, but the gun did not like them. But in all seriousness, who is going to shoot a 230 Berger Hybrid out of a .308 Win @ about 2300fps? The twist calculator calls for a 1 in 9.25" twist for that slow of a velocity. Unless you were going for a subsonic load for use with a suppressor......hmmm......Trail Boss could get you there......silent death.

I am an old school paper app and money order guy, so I have to wait until results are posted. But good luck to all of those still waiting, and congrats to those who know they have a tag coming. I know there will be quite a few who drew with less points than me, and I am cool with that. Especially if kids or women were the lucky ones. I have helped on a LOT of hunts for people with less points.

Make sure you call G&F and decline the charge....

camp entertainment with "the goat boys"

Too cool. I keep wanting to get a couple also. For weed control along with pack duties. And to kick my dog's butts when they get out of line with the local wildlife. -
My very petite 12 year old daughter shot her bull in 2014 with my .300RUM w. a brake. No sweat. I did not let her shoot it prior to the hunt for fear of becoming recoil shy. After the shot, I asked her how it was. She said fine, but her ears were really ringing. She was prepared to shoot my .270Win w. a brake as well, that my older daughter used when she was 11 years old. Also very petite. Both of my girls have been shooting my .25-06 Ackley (no brake) since about 8 years of age with no issues. And my new 6.5 SLR w. brake is amazing to shoot. Seriously, recoils barely more than my .223.

Wow. Not much more to say. Thanks a ton. Love AZ scenic shots. Those are ALL AZ Highways worthy.

Are More Elk/Mule Deer at Lower Elevations This Time of Year?
lancetkenyon replied to EverythingWx's topic in Shed Hunting
I have found elk sheds from 5000' to 9000'. Depends on the elk and the weather. Seems like it has been really warm the last month+, I would think they might be moving back up, but I seriously have no clue. Get away from people and look for elk. -
Hunting Blind kills Trophy Elk
lancetkenyon replied to Santana Outdoors's topic in Santana Outdoors Blog
Inspiring story. I have seen a few other totally blind hunters before. Amazing what they can do, and what the people who help them will do for friends and family. We should all be so lucky to have friends and family like that.- 1 reply

I had a YZ80 when I was a kid. Quick sucker that almost killed me on numerous occasions.....those were the days. Bump for a great deal.
-
I also have this sweet custom 1911 holster I can sweeten the deal with. Fits other models as well. Comfort is amazing. Retention of pistol...not so much.

A picture is worth 1000 words. Maybe go shoot a group and post the target. I cannot believe this has not sold yet. I bet once people hear they drew an elk tag, interest will pick up.
