    Score him!

I guess him in the 360s. Looks like he has below average mass and width but his beams and bottom end look very good. Great looking bull!

    Here's a unique buck.
  3. Hey new guy here. I'd first like to say hi and I say that I'm really looking forward to being apart of this site. With the archery elk season coming to an end if any of you hunters are anything like me then your starting to going crazy and can't wait for the rifle deer season to start. To help past the time I wanted to share some of my footage of the coues bucks I've been lucky enough to capture on video over the past year or so. Sorry for now there is no fancy editing, music or anything like that just raw coues footage so some of you may find the videos a bit boring. I'll be adding new clips when I can so be sure to check back to this thread for time to time. Also I'll be posting links to both Youtube and Vimeo until I figure out which one I like best. Anyways hopefully some of you enjoy these clips as much as I do and that it will help past the time just a bit. To watch the video click on either of the links below. http://vimeo.com/75550161
  4. Very nice pics indeed. Thanks!

    10x or 8x

I can't hold the 10x still enough so I prefer to use 8x. I seem to be more effective with the 8x over the 10x when using them hand held. If I happen to have something to use for support like a walking stick, tree or knees then I prefer 10x.

Here's another clip. I was glassing the smaller buck when I saw the tips of the bigger buck coming up over the skyline. I love it when the first thing your see on a deer is antler.

Finally was able to get out and do some scouting for the upcoming hunts. Found a good amount of doe and one small buck. Buck ended up feeding right to me while I was glassing. Also found a fawn that still has spots. I don't ever recall seeing a fawn with spots in October before seems a bit late. Video clip link of the small buck and fawn below.
  8. Thanks for the tip Big Tub I'll have to give Nelson a try. Is camping still allowed on the forest service land? It was mentioned above that all campgrounds are closed in the White Mountains but what about camping in general in a non-campground area?
  9. Does anyone know if Big Lake is closed. I was planning on taking the family up there this weekend to do some fishing. I'd hate to make a six hour drive just to find out the lake is closed.

Hit list bull made it though early season

+1 It looks like his antlers are chip free as well or at least there aren't any noticeable breaks to his rack. Great looking bull! The deer are good lookers as well. I especially like that 3x4 coues. I'd love to see a buck like that come December on my rifle hunt.
  11. Good job on the video. Was his rack hit by one of the shots?

Finally got story written and video put together!

Sweet buck! Man I sure love watching that wide boy shake his head. Congrats!

    23 jr hunt

Copied from the G&F website. This should be plenty of info to get you into some deer. Good luck! White-tailed Deer Overview: White-tail deer numbers in unit 23 are static to improving. The long-term drought we have been experiencing over the past several years has had an effect on them but they seem to thrive in unit 23 regardless. How well the fawns survive due to the dry spring and summer rains is a good indication of the condition of the total populations the following year. Look forward to better populations on years with increased rainfall. White-tailed deer can be found in all habitats from the semi-desert grassland areas up through through mixed-conifer forests. They are primarily found in a band of elevation from 3,500 feet to 6,000 feet. White-tailed deer prefer areas that do not experience heavy livestock densities. Required equipment for a successful hunt is a GOOD pair of binoculars and a tripod to mount them on and/or a spotting scope. There are areas in the unit where a good glasser can glass 20 to 30 deer from one vantage point. This can't be done unless you have the proper equipment. Areas: Popular areas holding high densities of white-tailed deer are between Cherry Creek and Tonto Creek at an elevation between 3,500 to 6,000 feet. All major drainages that run off of the Sierra Ancha Mountains hold white-tailed deer. For an undisturbed hunt, packing into one of the wilderness areas is a good plan. These are Salome, Hells Gate and Sierra Ancha. The north half of the unit also produces good hunt opportunities for white-tailed deer. Tips: Pre-season scouting is very important. Locate an area away from roads and glass the area to locate deer. Use a Tonto National Forest map to help you locate areas in which to search. White-tailed deer are very localized and can be found in the same canyon or hillside several times. The December hunt is a rut hunt and the bucks are usually actively seeking out does. Continue to glass with an honest effort and you should be able to locate a mature buck.

Congratulations to you and your wife! Looks like you got a soon to be hunter on your hands. Nothing quite like hunting with your kid(s).

First clip of him was probably somewhere around 600 yards and the second clip was around 200 yards give or take.

    Another for the pile

What a beauty! Love to see the buck that came off of.

What do you consider a big bull

+1 on both these posts. I've seen bulls that don't look as big as they score also have seen bulls that look bigger then they score. I try not to get caught up in score now days. If the bull makes my heart skip a beat then he's big in my book.

Better look at the buck in the previous clip. Sorry a bit shaky due to the high magnification and wind.

    A little of everything

Some great pics you got there thanks for posting them. That coues has got a pretty cool rack and the bobcat with the squirrel is just awesome.

Anybody seen a two point like this before?

That's cool looking buck. I've seen a few similar to yours just not as big.

Here's another clip. I really love the look of this buck. If given the chance I'd take this buck over some of the higher scoring bucks I've been seeing.
