Need help identifying this skull
My Rights As An American replied to singleshot's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Used to find goat skulls near the mines southeast of Tucson. Seemed like they were definitely out of place, but what did I know back then! -
Things are about to get real sporty up there. Kenai is expecting about 4.4 million reds this month, and these are the larger fish up to 10-12 pounds each. With the king fisheries in dire situations, the nets may not be hitting the water thus making sure the majority of the fish actually make it into the river. Limits will be raised quickly for this second run and freezers will be full! Still trying to see if there is a "cheap" plane ticket to Anchorage for a few days of fishing! This run could put LOTS of food in the freezer in a very short time!!!!

May heaven restore you and may God bring peace to the loved ones you most tragically and sadly were forced to leave behind. Our hearts, thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with our brothers and sisters in Arizona. Rest in peace all you Earthly Angels Brotherhood Strong: I could not say it better if I tried for a thousand years. Just the thought of the pain and suffering the families and friends are feeling is enough to make a grown man cry. God Bless!

2013 draw results ?
My Rights As An American replied to jeremiah lindsey's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
What do you mean? I got drawn. If you have not had your credit cards hit yet, it probably will not happen. Sorry, you sound like you are out of luck for this draw. -
Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Some outstanding growth there! Would not hesitate to arrow any of them with my tag.

Good for her! Looks like a fantastic meal!!!!!!!

Heard the rain was really strong, which just followed a long stretch of extreme heat after an extremely long winter. Sounds like the winter stuck around a long time, the heat came suddenly and melted snow and ice causing LOTS of flooding and now to follow that up with lots of rain. Wow, must be tough! My last few trips have been awesome weather with almost no mosquitoes.

Mann Gulch, Dude, Storm King and now Yarnell
My Rights As An American replied to biglakejake's topic in The Campfire
Went to lunch a little over an hour ago and was stopped at a light when the procession came through carrying the bodies of the firefighters. Talk about powerful! Probably 30 police and fire vehicles escorting the remains to the Maricopa Medical Examiners Office. Hard to not shed a tear for them and their families. -
Over 200 acres now according to AZ Daily Star this morning. Supposedly a lightening strike near Soldier Camp.

What a cool bull, lots of good mass! Thanks for sharing!

Strange in Unit 22N- Your thoughts??
My Rights As An American replied to ready2hunt's topic in Elk Hunting
I would agree that they look sawed off and weathered. I have found quite a few of those myself. Hard to imagine a valid reason to do this, but there could be one I have not thought of. -
AZGFD TAG & LICENSE FEES
My Rights As An American replied to Justin Stahl's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
IMHO, I am impressed that AGF actually listened to the feedback from the field and scrapped the "premium hunts" structure. Not sure people were convinced by the plan that these would be premium hunts. As for the current plan, the one that I saw was actually quite reasonable with some really nice highlights including the youth hunt license price drop. I am still quite a few years away from taking advantage of that, but I sure do appreciate the long-term thinking associated with establishing a strong base of hunters for the future. I think that over time, the old prices were simply increasing across the board too much for many families to participate in all the hunts. Dropping the youth fees sure goes a long way to balancing that back out to keep the interest with the youth. Kudos to AGF for listening to the field and responding appropriately, IMHO. It may never be the perfect fee structure for everyone, but this sure goes a long way to balancing things out for everyone! -
I like the second half of July on the Kenai, when fishing upriver from Soldotna. The big plug of reds can be strong and steady near the Russian River confluence and upstream. The silvers begin showing up in small numbers along the MatSu rivers. And every other year, the pinks and chum are also running strong at this time. The kings, which are almost non-existant anymore, are usually done by this time, though. Late June early July for kings in the rivers. LOTS of options!!!

If you believe in it, please say a prayer for those firefighters lost and their families, as well as those firefighters still working these fires. Do not forget those who have lost their homes. -
Left Tucson at 3 pm at about 110 degrees. My family called at 6 and said it rained hard briefly and the temp was 71. Dang, just missed it! Glad we are getting some, need it EVERYWHERE!!!!!

My best friend is on his way into the fire. Think he got there an hour ago or so. REALLY horrific to lose anyone, but 19 is shocking.

Me too, bonecollector. Just think of Larry the Cable Guy in a thong. Yikes, on second thought, erase that thought from your memory if you can!!! -
Tanned elk hides, tanned fox hide, Badlands Archery Backpack
My Rights As An American posted a topic in Classified Ads
I have a Badlands backpack, forget the specific name, but it is the silent archery model with no main zipper on the main pouch, but a folding cinch-down close. Originally, was over $150. Served me well but moved to a different pack. $65 Three professionally tanned cow elk hides in perfect condition from the tannery. These are all from elk I shot over the years and were properly stored in my office, rolled up out of the light. They are quite large and in great shape. These were quite expensive to have done professionally. $175 each OR BEST OFFER Finally, I have a professionally tanned Arizona fox hide. This one is in a little rougher shape but still good condition and makes an awesome, soft display with lots of great natural color! $50 Live near BassPro, work in downtown Phoenix. -
Wow, that place was an icon/eyesore since the first time I went up there in 1988 as a kid. I would point that place out to everyone in the car everytime I drove by there.
