Hunted high and low in 9 for 6 and a half days and only saw a young cow (maybe 1.5 year old) Saturday afternoon that I passed on. First time not filling a cow tag in 9 in over a decade. Drove through the GCNP Tuesday morning and saw a herd of 30-50 at Yaki point turnoff. Saw small groups the Wed. and Thu. before the hunt, then the weather turned cold and wet Friday morning. Talked to a few people that had cows down, but there were still a lot of people hunting Wednesday.

Unit 9 early cow for me. it's a fun hunt.

I checked some texts from last year and cards hit Tuesday morning, 3/7. Portal account had the tag number posted before 9:25am Saturday, 3/11. Hoping we have tag numbers posted by this weekend at the latest. Most likely early rifle cow in 9 for me, unless I'm REALLY lucky and drew early rifle bull in 9.

I gave up after not getting hit this morning, but just got hit 5 minutes ago! Not used to it taking this long but excited to be back chasing elk in the fall!
