I don’t see land owner tags happening. No one will be able to hunt so population levels will get super high and be eating all the grass. Or so the ranchers will say. So eventually they’ll let hunters back on

Saw this on Instagram...what’s your take?

You really think 1000 guys running around 13b trying to be the first one to kill one of the 50 bucks allotted is a good idea? That would be a horrible hunt and experience -
Not everyone is as talented as you! It really isn’t that difficult and these days it’s hard to anything without using online mechanisms
-
They are worried that older hunters will be fazed out because of online issues.
-
I’m probably wrong but I think it gives you first crack at turn back tags.
-
You're right that it is all males and changes the percentages dramatically. The 15 to 25 only kicks in if the unit meets all guidelines, and I don't know of a unit that is making 35 to 45 fawns per 100 does.
-
I agree that the percent maybe needs to go up but you can't just change that number without reducing rifle tags, which i have no issue on. The issue is they don't manage off a population estimate or a specific number of deer they are trying to kill. If they would do a population estimate and say 1000 deer are to be killed, the math on how many rifle tags there should be is easy

Nope haven’t heard the podcast you’re talking about. I talk to the actual biologists!!! One year old males do breed but I’m not sure if they count towards the percent of available bucks. I’d have to go look at the guidelines again. they manage for a harvest of 15-25% of available bucks. That’s a pretty low number.
-
You had me until the older age pronghorn. Tells me you don’t really know what you’re talking about. All the research says the bigger antelope are 2-4 years of age. They don’t need the age class like deer and elk. As mentioned already I don’t like all the restrictions you want.

Rumor on my street is that has already happened.

The state of arizona has legislation that says GF can’t take money up front. It’s not a game and fish thing it’s a state law. It doesn’t apply just to game and fish but it’s a gaming rule. So unless that changes they can’t take money up front on a card
-
I’m really confused why you think AZGFD is all about the money. They have bucks to doe ratios they abide by and manage for. It is much higher than you think. For deer I believe it’s like 25 to 100 does. In Utah they manage for 15-18 bucks per 100 does Now that sounds like piss poor management. And you can make comments on the guidelines every 5 years when they get redone. This bitching on the internet is getting old.

What do you expect when the state pays 50k for IT people. It is horrible

What population management hunt? You talking the fools hollow hunt that is under the general ek hunts? Lots of elk. Telephone lake. Burton. Lone pine dam. Capps. Have heard there is a big group by schoens. Plus you have two weeks to hunt !!!!

Here we go again, another call from AZGFD.

Yes they may have more power but have you helped on the water projects? Fence projects? Made comments to the department? Been to meetings? Talked to WMs? Donated money for water? Worked with ranchers? they do more and can do more when we help. I’ve done all the things I mentioned. -

You said in an earlier post that you already made 5 or 10k this past winter. Lies lies lies. -

The res is a sovereign nation so it should have been a lacy act violation. No idea if he was charged with it or why he wouldn’t have been. -

If the fines are paid, why was the amount paid less than 2000 when Blake was revoked? Think the commission said he is paying $50 a month? -

You need better sources. He lied the entire time and never came clean. It was the hunter who came clean. I can’t find them now but the documentation is out there -
There are juniper removal / grassland restorations all over the state. The tonto included. Maybe work with your local GF wm and get some projects going.

And never have a chance to draw good tags. No thank you. Right now if you have 25 points for sheep (6 behind max) it would take 50 years. Everyone with less than 24 points would stop applying. We don’t have the opportunity like Colorado where you can get left overs. You would be looking at 8 plus years for a cow tag before a guarantee.

GF officers get contracted to do security for the forest service. I’m told it’s the only overtime they get.

You really think a guy with this character gave it back. Rumor is he was supposed to but he hasn’t given it back yet. Which is not a surprise. I wonder if they can charge him for something if they find it, even if it’s not in his possession
