I started there in 92 under the old ownership but wasn't long after that Turners bought them - Probably 93. I left in '03 and I think they closed not long after that - '04/'05 maybe. The camelback store was interesting - I managed that one for a year or so before moving back to the mesa store. Positioned in-between a Chinese buffet and strip club. Suits and celebrities from downtown area during the lunch hour and a little bit of everything in the evenings.

If you all want to gather around the radio (or care), here’s some of the rest of the story… way back before sportsman’s warehouse and bps and cabelas and Scheels was a small chain of stores called The Sportsman. Location on Stapley and Southern, 7th and Camelback and a Glendale location owned by a local couple. They got a divorce as I recall and sold the business to Glenn and Shirley Links owner of Turners Outdoorsman’s and S&G distributing. They changed the name to Arizona Sportsman and opened a store on cave creek then bought the 2 Jensens stores in Tucson and then Shooters World in phx. Somewhere along that journey Glenn and Shirley got divorced and essentially he got the Az locations and she kept the Ca locations. Turners was a big deal back in the day - lots of promotions; outdoor shows etc. Obviously Az Sportsman went by the way of the dodo, 2nd amendment bought the Tucson locations as I believe, the Mesa and Cave Creek store closed and I think the light rail bought out the 7th and camelback location. Not sure whatever became of shooters world.

Can I ask how you determined the correct age of a bear they missed? I’m seriously asking because only way I know is slicing the tooth and counting rings - did you take a tooth and do a different study or are you saying the biologist said one age and the tooth report shared a difference of 3 years? thanks.

2700 tags for 10 straight years and 2 of the last 3 with bad fawn crops I would say has as much to do with it as anything.

Yup. Over sized controls (for a micro) and feed ramp, real safe, real trigger and cock with bolt. Plus they shoot lights out. Easy to add scope and lots of options for stock, color etc. By far best micro out there.

Check out the Rascal if want - has some definite advantages

1) Beretta S55 20ga O/U (Fixed choke F/M). Bluing and Wood is in great shape (90+%). 28” extractors - $650 2) Weatherby Regency Field Grade 20g O/U. Bluing is in 90%, Wood has a few small dings but beautiful wood (I would say Grade 3 or higher from Weatherby). Italian made (I think Zoli made them for Weatherby back then?). Now for the Story - I bought this as part of a police auction and some miscreate had cut through the rib, top barrel and just in the bottom barrel (not sure why he stopped there - maybe the door busted in about then). I had a smith weld the barrels and rib and then thread the barrels. Originally is was skt/skt, now comes with Beretta tubes (I have a full set of 3).
