71 yrs old with 19 bonus points, what unit for a Bull

I think thomc was joking about spending 19 points in a cow tag, at least I took it as such. -

Good Lord. I guess Go Hunt and all of those analytics are no match for Del the yote buster. Here is what I can see for 19 points Non Resident. Early rifle looks bleak for any premier unit. Like in the 0.3% range for 3c and even less in the 23s, 27s etc. For archery non res with 19 points, you can easily draw 27 or 1 (100%) but 23N is back to O.4% and up to 83% for 3c and down to 0.7 for 9. Let me know if you want any other units. Happy to help. Late tags wouldn't be a problem anywhere. I'm sure Del's method works for him but I am a tool and rely on data when asked instead, or we can all just go yote busting! That is more `funner` anyway. -

Pretty sure he was joking guys -
yes, sorry.

22mag has better energy than a 17hmr and as mentioned is borderline. We have had 100% success with coyote and a res javi with the 17wsm.

And that answers his question how for 2020 not 1985? -
My son took his buddy out to 24b for a quick one day hunt and first time in 24b this year and they found a herd by 10 and he killed and then found another herd going out. So I would agree that they are there somewhere. Good luck!

Big Coues Buck Hit! Need help....
jdown replied to Coues Archer's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Too far of shot can lead in dramatic loss of energy and arrow wobble, reducing penetration as well, not just placement. I keep hearing about these 70+ yards shots or petty fair distance but one I"ve practiced, but I can't find my deer/elk etc. And then find dear animal a week later.. horns are good, but wasted meat.. -
My son was shooting Norma 130 Accubonds really well through his savage.

This is hilarious, I was going to respond to this old post today too. I did the same thing over the weekend with 1 of our pigs from this year and had the same result. I did about 17 hours at 165, took the meat out and deboned and cut into smaller strips (it would not shred) so I put in back in the mix (submerged now) at 250 for another 4 hours and it came out super tender and moist. I wish I would have added a bit more seasoning (I did 2 jars of 505 roasted green chilis and 1 jar of 505 medium green chili mix) as it is a little bland but good, but a little hot sauce took care of that. I think tonight I'll fry a bit of it up with another can of green chilis and try that in tortilla. But it ate really well and the Packers won so all good! Thanks!

I normally don't post stories on here, but since this was the 3rd time in 4 years my sons and I have gone 3/3 on opening morning I thought I would share that but the real story here is this is the first year they let me shoot first... I guess the time has come where they are looking out for me vs me looking out for them. Heck why not, I'll take it and thanks boys! Happy New Years all and good luck

the combining thing is pretty cool idea... however I'd like to be able to split my antelope points. I'm still probably 10 years away from the any tag mark, but feel like holding on to too many to do put them all in for an archery hunt. I want one more (that would be 2 in my life) rifle hunt before I cash in....

We have been blessed with good kids for sure! Never has been a competition for game and they enjoy watching stuff get hunted and being the glasser as much as being the one the trigger. The only exception was last year, my son did a ton of work to find a very nice bear in a very $hiT hole canyon.. him and I went in the next weekend (I think his 3rd or 4th trip in there and my 2nd) and I don't think there was a chance in he77 that he was going to give up the gun on that one and I wasn't about to even ask.. he put in all the effort, I got enjoy the stalk and kill through 15s! Other than that, it's a chip and dale usually.. "you go, no you go... "

Just made 65lbs of summer sausage and 5lbs of jerky out of last years 4 pigs and haven't had anyone yet say anything but good and can I have more. 5 in the cooler right now and thinking another batch of chorizo or breakfast sausage for 1/2 and then keep the rest of summer sausage toward the end of the year.
