That is what I needed to hear!! I was heck bent on that SCR-MOA reticle until I checked out both in a store. The SCR-MOA is great but I think it is a bit too fine for a true hunting reticle and would lose out a bit in the edges of daylight. I really liked the Ballistic Plex reticle, esp in FFP because it really helps center you on the cross hairs even at low magnification. However-- on the vertical crosshair, the holdover hashes beneath the main crosshair seemed to be a bit weird. I actually emailed burris and asked why they didn't use something more standardized like hashes every 1 or 2 MOA as on the SCR. The reticle explanation appears to show the hashes at 1.39 moa, 4 moa, 7.18 moa and then 10.56 moa. To me this makes ZERO sense if I am going to use a holdover method instead of dialing. Thoughts?

Its a 1-9 sendero lite--- I didn't originally get it for flinging 195s but --once I saw them I figured Id grab a box and try. I checked the Berger twist rate calculator and I'm right on the edge of marginal to stable. Being down here in Texas it looks like stability will increase with altitude, and with temperature (the only benefit Texas has) at least playing with that calculator. If that holds true in practice then hopefully they stabilize at western hunting altitudes. I think my primary hunting bullet will be the 180s- best worlds of density and velocity.

What don't you like about the LRAB? Is it an accuracy issue or terminal performance on game?
-
Time to resurrect this thread!!! GG85-- Whats the verdict? You've had this Veracity for 2 years now. I'm looking at them now. Which reticle did you go with (SCR or the Ballistic Plex)?

Happy Birthday!!!

Def go shoot a few. I've not shot an elite but I hear great things. The best two bows I've shot for smooth cycle and speed are: 1. Obsession Defcon M7 2. Xpedition Xring

CWT sticker bottom left rear window! We were In red Yaris headed to Sedona. In town from Dallas Tx!! -
I've not reloaded monolithic bullets yet but I've seen them in their own section in reloading manuals.

I had a little bit of a break from CWT recently and it's time to jump back into the fray!! Updates- Made the choice to leave active duty (10.5 years) for the Army National Guard and made a big move to DFW area. Still getting settled down here with the wife and doing our house hunting. Found some great rifle ranges and gun stores (god bless Texas). Took the wife to Sedona this past weekend (I did get to swing by the Outdoorsmans) and it reminded me how much I loved my AZ hunting experience. I'm building points but if all goes well I'm planning on a Jan 2018 OTC bow hunt. Anyone in the DFW area sound off!!

6.5 (Creedmore - x284 - x06 - x55) Reloading Considerations
duckhunter175 replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I did what is essentially your Option #2 when I started. I had a Savage LRH in 6.5x284. I bought 3 boxes of Nosler 129 LRAB and shot them up. I was learning my gun, getting zero'd, and working on marksmanship. Once those 60rds were shot I did load development and once I got where I wanted it I loaded all 60 up to spec. Barrel life will depend on how hot you load and how many shots you are stringing together. But-- with that savage barrel nut you can buy a new pre-fit for $350ish and keep on rocking! -
Not coues related but now that hunting season is over.......
duckhunter175 replied to shurtzgarret's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
What tires did you choose? I have 63k on my Duratracs and it is time for new ones. I just leveled my truck and I'm thinking of going up to 33s or 275/70r18s. -
How do you pick your arrows?
duckhunter175 replied to phillyphan's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
What creed said. Also-- Gold Tip website has a great KE and velocity calculator that I would use to 'test' your possible arrow combinations to decide on what you want.
