I front hobbled a horse once so he could eat the grass in the front yard. About 30 minutes later I get a call from a neighbor saying my horse was over a half mile away skipping down the road making a break for it. That horse was too smart for his own good. I've always liked the idea of cabin hunting. Might have to try it some time.

All the bucks I glassed up on Friday (including a 100" buck) were all still in velvet. But a couple were starting to rub.

The horses in Texas are mostly quarterhorse stock. Arizonas horses are mostly mustang stock.

If you're new to western hunting in general, I would say your money will be better spent on good gear before scouting packages and guide services. You won't need the most high end gear, but decent binos, and a great pack will save you a lot of pain and suffering.
