    Duwane's Hunter Killed a Monster

Wow, a whole lot of assumptions and assuming the worst in people in this thread. We are assuming that the guide, knew the buck was mortally wounded. Knew where the wounded buck was located. The guide was still glassing with his Hunter, and a couple random hunters(not the original Hunter who missed) stoped to talk with him. Does anyone expect him to tell these random hunters where a big buck is located? (Even if he knew) If the guide knew there was a wounded buck in the area, do you expect him to bail off the hill with his client and help some other random hunters? “Sorry out of state client, we arent going to look for a buck for you” How many people were already attempting to track the buck that Saturday? If the guide knew where the buck went, why didn’t they kill the buck that day or even the next day? It took 3 more days to find the buck. The buck wasn’t even in the same area(it was the same unit) where it was wounded on Saturday. Did Rod and AZbearhunter spend most of Sunday looking for the buck they wounded? Did you guys go and speak to the guide and ask him what he saw and if he could point you in the right direction? As far as the truck driving around and “road hunting”. How do you know he even had a client in the truck? You know most of the time Outfitters aren’t guiding themselves, right? Perhaps he was checking up on all the guides and clients he had in the unit? I can’t imagine “road hunting” or anything close to it being a go to move on a desert archery hunt. Especially for an outfitter and his guides who are known for their glassing expertise. Which brings me to the army of glassers. That Army of one guide and one client. Those two got it done. Folks need to stop trying to crap on other peoples accomplishments.

    Hunting guide recommendations

Duwane Adams. You can’t go wrong going with him. I was there for NatureBob’s Hunt too! I had no idea that was THE NatureBob. I remember Bob being real sick but not wanting his hunt to end. It really is a fun camp. As always, that was a very successful hunt and I think everyone had an absolutely great time.

Yes, I’ve wasted at least an hour thinking I was screwing something up. Probably try again tomorrow night.....

    Rossi branch hand

The Contender is great for the HAM hunt. I might change it up this winter and use the old cap and ball but the TC is impressive.

    Got 13b rifle tag

Congrats on this tag. It really is a unique and cool hunt. My buddy called it the super bowl of Muley hunts. Most of us simply have unrealistic expectations for this hunt. I know I did. We have all read the stories and have seen the pics from the strip. I suspect there are only a dozen or so giant deer killed up there yearly. I could be wrong but most of the deer I saw in the field, camps and pick up trucks were not 180"+ bucks. How many tags will you be trying to fill? What kind of deer are the tag holders willing to pass on? How long before the season can you set up camp and live in the unit?

    Got 13b rifle tag

I had this tag last year and couldn't agree with SirRoyal more. It was a really cool hunt but the hardest hunt I have been on. A lot of people think there at 200" deer around every bush. It just isn't the case. During the 10 day season I saw 50-100 does. About 6-10 160" bucks but nothing big. Most of the camps treat this hunt like sheep camp. There are multiple buddies glassing and looking for a shooter. There can easily be 5-10 guys out there for one tag. The roads are very rough and it was common to drive 100-150 miles a day between areas. I think you could go up there and shoot a 160-170" deer and maybe get lucky and see one of the monsters and have a shot. It really depends on if you can scrap up the cash. If you can swing it I'd use a guide.

    Prop Bets

I did my part with my long time lurker intro. Give me a few months and I'll be that dbag that drives someone to start the stolen spot thread!

    New Member Introduction: Yuma, AZ

Thanks everyone. It looks like I was drawn for deer. I guess we will see which tag in about 10 days or so. My first ever coueswhitetail.com post was a reply to a Cabelas Visa thread. Their online statements aren't showing the AZ Game and Fish hits yet. I had to call and the nice lady told me the charge would be visible tomorrow.
  10. Hello Everyone, First, a big thanks to all the forum members who have shared so much. I have found my way onto the forum as a lurker over the years but finally decided a couple of months ago to sign-up. I grew up hunting, fishing, and even trapped some as a kid. Moved away after high school and moved around way too much due to military/career commitments. Now in my 40's, I was finally able to move to Yuma and I am planning to stay here and raise the family. This fall will be my forth hunting season as a resident. The first year, I purchased a left-over 12A Fall turkey tag and had a great time north of the river. That next spring I hunted HAM Javelina in a Region V unit. My second fall, I purchased a left-over coues tag down in a border unit and had a great hunt but wasn't able to connect. My third year, I drew a 13B rifle hunt with 11 points. Very lucky to draw that tag with only 11 points. I guess all my luck was used up on the tag, because we never saw a buck that would have broke 180". Still, it was a great experience to be able to be on that hunt. The blessing in drawing that tag means, I don't need to play the points game for deer anymore. I'll be setting my sights on the more attainable tags and getting to hunt deer more than in the past. I spend a good amount of time in the units around Yuma in Region IV. If anyone draws a sheep tag for these units, I would love to help scout or be an extra set of eyes on the hunt. It would be great to meet a few folks and spend some time in the field. NvrDrwn

    Any Cabela cards hit

I did exactly what Heat described. I didn't have any new charges on the card but my available credit went down by $45. I called and the lady told me AZ Game and Fish on the 10th. She said it will post sometime overnight.
