Cover for Suppressors?
NewlyMinted replied to SO I HUNT's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
What’s the purpose of a cover on them, do they generally not match the barrel or something? -
Here we go again, another call from AZGFD.

Yep! Happy to find some good BLM land! Thanks for sharing the fire restrictions page .. that’s a handy link I’d never seen before. I’ve always just checked the BLM site directly but this is better!
-
State Land still has a restriction, but they had a restriction anyway. Gila District BLM land have no current restriction on recreational shooting, the other districts do. https://www.blm.gov/programs/public-safety-and-fire/fire-and-aviation/regional-info/arizona/fire-restrictions

Thanks for that link (now bookmarked), looks like the BLM in Pima doesn't have restrictions in place, but this is a great resource to know about. https://firerestrictions.us/az/az-blm/tucson-field-office/

I didn't see the notice and was planning on heading out in 34s to shoot on BLM. Where is the notice for the Gila District / Tucson area? Main BLM Rec Shooting page

I picked up an 870 from USA Pawn on Speedway about 2 years ago.. They had a ton and were happy to haggle. I doubt the one I got had done more than cycle a few shells.

Is it tough to do? I was going to tackle mine this week.

I have Mako steaks in the freezer! Looking forward to trying. Some of our group has eaten them already and said they were good. Any ideas on how to prepare? nice Tuna!

Awesome!

Yes, no braid. I wanted to reduce the number of knots that could fail, but also didn’t want my braid to cut anyone else mono.

This is what I took with me. The 30lbs did great with some fighty yellowtail and let the sardines swim far far away. had no bites in the 80lbs set-up but it looked real nice I took pics of it before I left in case I needed to know to stay away or reorder. I do recommend the Pline as the mono.. bird nesting was basically eliminated even with me setting up the reel the night before the trip. have fun!

Just came back yesterday after the 1.5 day'er with the Relentless crew. 21 of us have chartered with these guys 4 years in a row and the last two years we had YF and BF Tunas 25-30 lbs fighters. This year apparently the Tuna just aren't biting within range of the 10 knot boats but they had a lead on some big yellow-tails. We netted 29 yellow tails and a few rock fish of the 18 of us that ended up fishing. Most were 25-30lbs, but the winner was a 40lbs for the pot of $$$. We were 75 miles off the coast in CA waters, I brought my Fathom 15LD on a 7' Carnage II rod with 30# mono and a 30# Fluoro topshot. The Yellowtail were lazy biters, but my two I got from belly hooking the bait and letting them swim with about 150-200yds of line. these yellow-tail were fighters and the like to dive down to the rocks and break the line. The 15LD was perfect for the drag and the long fight. I brought my Squall 60 2-speed with 80# braid topped with 80# Fluoro to troll but nothing played with the lure. The Fathom 15 did great last year with the 25-30lb YF and BF we brought home. Highly recommend the Relentless and crew, and VERY MUCH recommend getting a group of friends together to do the overnight, much easier to work around the rail when you know everyone a little bit.

Hi, I'm looking at adding a used bow to my outdoor fun in the next month. I'm guessing it'll need to be looked at and dialed in to my draw-length etc. Is there a bow shop that won't cringe at a newbie coming in with a used bow looking for help just starting out? I went into a bow shop in the north of Tucson and just felt pressured to upgrade and spend more with no real idea if what they were saying was real or just sales-ey Any help would be awesome! Edward

My kid has a 2002 Sequoia. Low mileage for the age of the car (130000) and i'm less worried about them being on the road. My insurance says it's replacement cost is $3K, so maybe look at those?

Newberg, THP and HUSH have yet to bag an archery Coues over the last 3 years, but show the duck, quail, rabbit, and javelina in the area which is very cool. I thought OTC Javelina was only in the metro regions and the 36s needed a draw or left over tag?

I don't have a dog in this fight, but read p25 onwards of this: https://collaboration.idfg.idaho.gov/WildlifeTechnicalReports/Elk Statewide FY2019.pdf Harsh winter made the big hit, but wolves taking young Elk are clearly cited as the reason recovery is not faster.

Any good videos as a result?

These guys are who got me excited about hunting in the first place. Was so happy they came out to AZ the last 2 years.
