What length hose are you using for the 20lb tank? Use the 10 foot hose w/o the filter. I had the support guy at Mr. Heater tell me that last year. He said that filter can make the heater temperamental at times. While it can be a little finicky at times to get started, mine has always worked even as recently as 2 weeks ago in 18A when it was colder than a well digger's brass money. Good luck, Eddie

Yes and my apologies for no update until now. The short version: Bupkis with the weather and elk activity both being bad. Thu./Fri./Sat. a.m/ was mild but crazy windy. Sat. p.m. and after was cold, windy and snowy and not a good time to be tent camping in spite of having a Kodiak and a Mr. Buddy. No elk activity to be seen. I did hear elk a couple nights and saw fresh scat. I ran into 3 others hunters while there and they said the same thing. I came back early since it was so bad. I will be back out there later this month to try again. On an unrelated note: no more solo hunts after this one is over. # 1 reason is boredom hands down. I will update this thread after my next hunt (probably the end of this month). Eddie

Canvas will not hold the heat any better. It still escapes too durn fast. The heater I posted might be too big for that tent. They sell a smaller version of it which might work better and be safer. Good luck, Eddie

I need to get better at setting up the awning. I fail miserably at it every time.. It sags somewhere and comes down rather easily whenever I use it. Eddie
